Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Joe Hart, Multiple Snubs Revealed

Rory MarsdenMar 4, 2017

Liverpool's pursuit of goalkeeper Joe Hart could reportedly be scuppered by Italian side Torino as Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could block the England international from moving to a Premier League rival.

City stopper Hart has been on loan at Torino during the 2016-17 season, and the Serie A outfit are now reportedly eager to make the move permanent, with Liverpool and Arsenal also both keen on signing him up, per Tuttosport (via TalkSport).

It seems likely that Hart's future lies away from the Etihad Stadium, as Guardiola recently said he is "so happy" with goalkeeping duo Willy Caballero and Claudio Bravo, per the Press Association's Andy Hampson:

A move to Anfield for the 29-year-old could be a perfect outcome as Hart is a proven Premier League goalkeeper—and two-time title winner—while Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet remain an unreliable pair in Jurgen Klopp's squad.

Given the inconsistency of Liverpool's current goalkeeping duo, Hart would likely easily claim the No. 1 jersey at Anfield should Liverpool snap him up.

However, per Tuttosport's report (h/t Sport Witness' Lucas Sposito), Hart moving to another Premier League club "is not an idea much liked" by Guardiola or City.

The Sky Blues would be much more inclined to sell Hart to Torino on a permanent basis, thus denying Liverpool or Arsenal the chance to snap him up.

Per Sposito's report, City would be prepared to sell Hart for around €15 million (£13 million), a price Torino could afford, meaning Liverpool may well miss out on signing the English stopper.

Meanwhile, Liverpool reportedly missed out on snapping up several of Europe's most exciting players despite offering similar financial terms to clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.

According to The Telegraph's Chris Bascombe, in the past few years Liverpool approached Diego Costa, Henrik Mkhitaryan, Alexis Sanchez, Willian, Mario Gotze and Leroy Sane but failed to sign any of them.

Bascombe added that the Merseyside club "are adamant the financial package at Anfield was equal to, or in some cases even more than that offered by Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Manchester City."

But they still failed in their bid to sign any of them, and most are now proving brilliantly effective at rival Premier League clubs.

Each of the six players mentioned, with the exception of the currently sidelined Gotze, would be a huge help to Liverpool at the moment as they endure a rotten spell of form—two wins in 12 in all competitions.

And the fact that the likes of Costa, Mkhitaryan, Sanchez, Willian and Sane all opted to join other Premier League clubs despite similar financial incentives from Liverpool is a worrying trend for the Anfield outfit.
