Jorge Sampaoli Connected to Sevilla 'To Death,' Plays Down Barcelona Rumours
Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has played down rumours linking him with the upcoming vacancy at Barcelona, saying he sees his long-term future in Andalusia.
The Argentinian is one of the favourites to replace Barcelona boss Luis Enrique next season, but he told reporters after the 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Thursday that he hasn't given it any thought.
As reported by Marca, he said:

"The Barcelona job? That question has no answer because it doesn't exist. I have no idea what is being said, at this stage of the season to speak of candidates doesn't make sense. I am connected with this sporting project at Sevilla to death.
"
He also addressed a possible contract extension, admitting he's yet to meet with the club.

Per Sport, the 56-year-old is the fans' preferred option to replace Enrique, winning seven different polls. Sampaoli is in his first year in La Liga after guiding Chile to the 2015 Copa America title.
Under Sampaoli, who replaced the popular Unai Emery, Sevilla have enjoyed one of their best campaigns in recent memory. The club are battling the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title in La Liga and are still active in the UEFA Champions League as well.
Unsurprisingly, the Argentinian is popular in the city of Seville. As shared by 101 Great Goals, fans showed their love after the derby win over Real Betis:
It seems that love is mutual. Sampaoli hasn't been shy about changing clubs in a hurry during his career, but he has settled down a bit since he took the job at Universidad de Chile in 2010.
He was patient during his spell in charge of Chile's national team, sticking around until they won major silverware before departing. It's not out of the question he'll do the same at Sevilla.
Per Squawka News, he needs some answers from the club regarding the future, however:
With Sampaoli calling the shots, it's possible Sevilla will be able to challenge La Liga's giants moving forward. The master tactician has plenty of ambition, however, and if Sevilla can't support his thirst for success, the Blaugrana would make a tantalising option.
