Big Ten Picks for Week Six in College Football
Eastern Illinois at Penn State
This game shouldn't be much of a contest. Daryll Clark won't even play much past halftime as Penn State gets a 31-0 lead early on. Expect another big day on the ground for the Lions as they win this one going away.
Penn State 45, EIU 10
Miami (OH) at Northwestern
The Redhawks have won mulitple games in this series, but this year won't be one of them. Even with the Wildcats struggling to maintain a physical attack, the Redhawks are winless, and this just isn't their year.
Northwestern 27, Miami (OH) 13
Purdue at Minnesota
The Boilermakers have blown chances the last few weeks against Notre Dame, Northwestern, Oregon, and NIU. The Gophers are in definite need of a victory this week, as their bowl situation depends upon it. Expect Weber and Decker to play a great game.
Minnesota 34, Purdue 20
Michigan State at Illinois
MSU is coming off a momentum-changing off over a still-solid Michigan team. Illinois is making a change at quarterback for a week. Michigan State will get an early lead, and Juice Williams will come back into the game and play lights-out. Unfortunately, it won't be enough for the Illini.
Michigan State 41, Illinois 31
Wisconsin at Ohio State
Maybe the best conference game of the day. I have been back and forth on this game, as it is very tough to call. Although I don't think it is likely the Big Ten has any undefeated teams much longer, The Badgers' red-zone offense has been terrific and Ohio State's hasn't. The history might actually favor Wisconsin and so ...
Wisconsin 28, Ohio State 24
Indiana at Virginia
Gotta go with the Hoosiers in this game. They played Michigan to the wire and really hung tough with the Buckeyes last week, while Virginia has had some bad losses. Indiana's pistol gets going early and the Hoosiers don't look back on their way to possible bowl eligibility.
Indiana 34, Virginia 17
Michigan at Iowa
This game sets up to be a complete mismatch. Iowa's defense has been lock-down in the red zone and their power running style is the same that has kept Michigan's potent offense off the field. However, Iowa's defense hasn't been stellar between the 20 yard lines, and Michigan brings more quick-strike potential than anyone Iowa has played so far. Iowa has flirted with being upset at home twice, and Tate Forcier has been great in the clutch. My upset special of the week!
