A London special, the reveal of a new signature sneaker and a "Player Exclusive" model worth salivating over. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome Week 12 of the NBA season.
We've told you that great sneakers don't have time to sleep. In the NBA, it's a constant tug of war for on-foot supremacy.
If you don't know the drill by now, you should. Here are Bleacher Report Kicks' top footwear choices from the last seven days of NBA action. As always, leave your comments below and let us know which models you're feeling and which ones you could do without.
Dwyane Wade: Way of Wade 5 'Christmas'
1 of 5Who: Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade
Sneaker Worn: Way of Wade 5 "Christmas"
Christmas may have passed, but that hasn't stopped Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade from sporting his best-looking pair of kicks.
The Way of Wade 5 emerged this season, and for all technical intents and purposes, the shoe has been able to compete with anything Nike, Jordan Brand or Adidas has dropped. Wade's switch to the Bulls—after an enduring tenure with the Miami Heat—has given the Way of Wade line a refreshing update aesthetically.
Sneakers worn around the holidays are generally one-offs. The Way of Wade 5 "Christmas" has avoided that label. Metallic elements and an aqua sole give this shoe a year-long shelf life.
Against the New York Knicks on January 12, the Way of Wade 5 "Christmas" took the title of best-looking sneaker on the court.
Paul George: Nike PG1
2 of 5
Who: Indiana Pacers forward Paul George
Sneaker Worn: Nike PG1
Nike Basketball's heritage of giving athletes their own kicks continued earlier this week when Indiana Pacers forward Paul George exposed the PG1 against the Denver Nuggets.
Showcased on an international stage when the Pacers battled the Nuggets in London on January 12, these kicks mark George's triumphant return from the horrific leg injury he sustained in 2014.
The PG1 makes George the fourth active member of Nike Basketball. Consumers will now get a chance to follow George's on-court legacy, alongside fellow Nike athletes LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Highlights of this sneaker include Flywire technology, a full-comfort bootie and Nike's Zoom Air unit, bridging the gap between sustainability and style.
Cheers, PG13. More importantly, welcome to the Nike signature athlete family.
LeBron James: LeBron 14 'Grey/Red'
3 of 5Who: Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James
Sneaker Worn: LeBron 14 "Grey/Red"
King James' rollout of the LeBron 14 has gotten off to hot start. Taking on the Portland Trail Blazers on January 12, James unleashed a "Grey/Red" rendition for fans of the product to admire.
The LeBron 14 has established itself as an early contender for sneaker of the year. It's a sneaker that has guided the LeBron line—Nike's biggest asset—into a better place.
There's a good chance, based on what we've seen thus far, that these kicks will remain in rotation for our weekly recaps. Each colorway released has been a meticulous, smooth convoy of design.
DeMar DeRozan: Nike Kobe 1 'Fade to Black'
4 of 5Who: Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan
Sneaker Worn: Nike Kobe 1 "Fade to Black"
It's time to recognize Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan as the lone Kobe Bryant sneaker enthusiast in the NBA. No matter what week it is, DeRozan is always busting out vintage Bryant kicks.
His best choice—it feels like we say this every week—is, without a doubt, the Nike Kobe 1 "Fade to Black," worn against the Boston Celtics on January 10.
A sneaker that in many ways resembles LeBron James' first shoe, these kicks have held up well. Considering just the heel, woven with an open draft policy, the Kobe 1 was great because it used smart design to benefit its overall appearance.
Keep an eye on DeRozan. The constant fireball footwear choices he's displayed make his sneaker game almost as clean as his ability to score the basketball.
Kristaps Porzingis: Adidas Crazy Explosive 'Player Exclusive'
5 of 5Who: New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis
Sneaker Worn: Adidas Crazy Explosive 'Player Exclusive'
Our love affair with the Adidas Crazy Explosive continues thanks to New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis. This whole season, we've watched as Porzingis has unveiled unique, Knicks-colored "Player Exclusive" versions of the Crazy Explosive.
White Boost padding, an orange gripped sole and a black upper give this shoe a beautiful balance of colors. But the best part of these particular Crazy Explosives has to be the royal blue laced pockets tucked near the forefoot.
For not being a signature sneaker, the Crazy Explosive truly shines. We're grateful so many Adidas athletes are currently rocking these on the court.
