Liverpool Transfer News: Daniel Sturridge Hint, Latest Mahmoud Dahoud Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenDec 11, 2016

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has hinted rumours his club is interested in Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge are warranted, while Juventus are reportedly confident they lead the race for Borussia Monchengladbach's Mahmoud Dahoud.

Sturridge has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield and has been linked with a move to West Ham, and Bilic doesn't mind the speculation, as reported by the Daily Mirror's Liam Corless:

"

He's one of the biggest talents, he's a great player. The talent is there, the touch, the finishing, everything is great.

The only thing that has stopped him being a regular for club and country are the injuries.

He’s just a player that has been linked with us, basically, and we’ve been linked with almost every player.

We’re always there in contention. Most of the time it’s absolutely not true, 95% of the time. But you’re asking me about Sturridge and I have no problem about that.

The 27-year-old has yet to find the net in the Premier League this season and has done most of his damage in the EFL Cup, where he has flashed his talent. With Divock Origi taking the next step in his development and Sadio Mane making a seamless transition to life at Anfield, his chances of returning to the starting XI seem slim.

Liverpool have made a fine start to the 2016-17 season, and manager Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to tinker too much with his system and side as long as injuries or suspension don't intervene. Both Mane and Origi are better fits for his philosophy, built around pressing and raw athleticism.

Sturridge isn't expected to leave the club in January, with Danny Ings still out due to injury and Mane leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations. West Ham will be gunning for a January move, however, as the club desperately needs to turn its season around.

The Hammers sit dangerously close to the relegation zone and haven't received enough production from their forwards so far. Juventus loanee Simone Zaza has been a major flop, and Manuel Lanzini is still adapting to the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Tuttosport (h/t Calciomercato's Steve Mitchell) reports Juventus are confident they can land Dahoud, the 20-year-old Monchengladbach starlet who has been linked with Liverpool for some time now.

The Syria-born midfielder, who has played his youth football for Germany, is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the Bundesliga. Klopp is said to be a fan, and his history in Germany has led to plenty of speculation.

Here's a look at what the fuss is all about:

Dahoud is at his best when he gets to sit in front of the defence and displays tremendous vision as a chief playmaker. He has very quick feet, which help him get out of tricky situations and launch quick attacks by beating his own man and creating advantages further up the pitch.

Per WhoScored's Dinesh Kumar, Gladbach may be warming up to the idea of selling, with the youngster not signing a new deal:

Juventus are anxious to add depth to their midfield and would love to add some youth and upside, and following the Paul Pogba sale, they have money to spend. Liverpool will remain in the mix, however, along with other top clubs.
