Battle of The Unbeatens, Who Will Stay Perfect ?
It's already Week Five, and there's five teams that have been perfect thus far. The New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and the Minnesota Vikings, have all survived four weeks without a loss. Going all sixteen games is possible, just ask the New England Patriots, but highly unlikely.
Who will be dealt their first loss of the season ?
And who will remain undefeated after Week Five ?

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Let's find out !
New Orleans Saints
The Saints are 4-0, and have the highest flying offense in the NFL. The Saints' defense has come alive in the past week, and they're sitting pretty in the driver's seat in the NFC South.
Drew Brees is on pace to have a Pro Bowl worthy year, possibly adding another MVP award to his resume.
Brees lit up the Lions earlier this season, throwing six touchdowns, but he's only added three TD tosses since. Amassing 1,031 yards so far, Brees could throw for over 4,000 yards, and pile up 25+ touchdowns by year's end.
With the highest scoring offense in the league, reminiscent of the "Greatest Show on Turf", (St. Louis Rams 1999-2001 ) don't be surprised to see the boys from the bayou run up the score against their opponents.
New Orleans is in the top 10 in every major offensive category, ranking 1st in points with 36.0, 2nd in yards with 414.2, 10th in the passing game with 248.0 yards per, and 2nd on the ground, with 166.2 yards per contest.
The Saints will be saved by the "bye" this week, but play Eli and the Giants the following week. In short, the Saints will remain unblemished, due to the break, perfect timing before tangling with the G-Men.
New York Giants
Eli may be out this week due to his plantar fasciaitis. No worries though, they play Oakland this week.
Eli has dismantled the opposition this year, throwing for 1,039 yards, and hurling 8 touchdowns.
David Carr may end up the starter this week, but it should make no difference when it comes to the struggling, down trodden Raiders.
The Giants also rank in the top 10 in all major offensive categories. They're 5th in points, scoring 26.8 per game, 5th in offense with 401.0 yards per game, and 8th through the air, with 255.5 per contest. Team that up with a defense that has held it's ground so far, and that equals a decisive win against the Raiders.
Even if Carr gets the nod, I look for the Giants to remain perfect, going 5-0, after they handle Oakland, 35-10.
Indianapolis Colts
Eli isn't the only Manning heading up an undefeated team this year. Big brother Peyton has led the Colts to their 5th consecutive 4-0 start. Peyton's skills as the ultimate field general have been evident thus far, and his stats more than show that the Colts are for real.
Manning has passed for 1,336 yards and 9 touchdowns. It's only Week Five, remember that. Peyton is arguably one of the all time greats, and is on a maniacal pace to rack up some gaudy numbers this season.
The Colts are boasting the top mark in total yards, with 414.2. They're 5th in points scored, with 26.5, 1st when it comes to the air game, with 330.2 yards per. The only weakness the Colts have on offense is the ground game, ranking a dismal 29th overall, with just 84.0 yards per game.
When you have a leader like Peyton, seasoned vets in Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark, it just makes sense to score via the passing game.
The Colts beat defending NFC Champions, the Arizona Cardinals 31-10 earlier this season, and play the Tennessee Titans this week. The Titans are off to a slow start, but it doesn't get any easier with the Colts coming to town. I look for Indy to also remain perfect in the win column, 5-0, beating Tennessee 24-13.
Denver Broncos
Perhaps the only unbeaten team that is not getting the respect they deserve. The Broncs are 4-0, and are clicking on both sides of the ball.
With the acquisition of Brian Dawkins, the Broncos strengthen their traditionally stellar secondary.
Kyle Orton has taken over the offense, coming over in the Cutler deal from the Bears. Orton has piled up almost 1,000 yards ( 906 ), with 5 touchdown tosses.
Brandon Marshall has seemed to overcome his preseason tantrums, and looks to restore his reputation as one of the premier receivers in the league.
The Broncos beat the 'Boys 17-10 in Week Four, and are in command in the AFC West.
Ranking 19th overall in points scored, with 19.8, 9th in yards through the air with, 365.0, 8th passing with 217.0 yards per game, and 4th on the ground with 148.0 per. If the Broncs wish to remain unbeaten, they need to score more than 19 points against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots this week. I don't think they will. They lose, getting their first "L" of the year.... 24-17 Pats.
Minnesota Vikings
With the eternally young Brett Favre at the helm, the Vikes are unscaved as well ! Who would have thought they would remain perfect with such style and power, beating the Packers in the Metrodome Monday night, 30-23. Favre absolutely was surgical with it, disecting the Packers like a frog in a high school biology lab. 40 or not, he's still got it. The fact is, the NFC North is a weak division, and I believe the Vikes have the best chance of going unbeaten the longest. They play the Rams this week, and will beat the Rams this week. Brett will pick apart the St. Louis safeties and corners with precision, leading the Vikings to 5-0.
Favre has thrown for 837 yards and 5 touchdowns so far, with plenty of talented receivers to fetch balls for him. Percy Harvin will quickly become Favre's second favorite, right behind Adrian Peterson. Count on it.
The Vikings offense is 19th overall, with just 321.5 yards per game. The passing game is 21st with 198.0 yards per contest, and 10th in rushing (All Day Adrian Peterson) with 123.5 yards on the ground per game. Why are they unbeaten ? They score ! And they score a lot. 4th in the league with 29.5 points per game, and a surgeon behind center.
The Vikings and Dr.Brett Favre are the feel good story in Minnesota, with the exception of the Twins. You can't help but want Favre to succeed, he's a proven winner, and will continue to do so. The Vikings will win the NFC North, bottom line.
Those are my opinions and predicitions, and as always, I invite you, the reader, to counteract them. The NFL will be a quarterback's league this year, and the obnoxious numbers posted by the league's elite slingers are proof positive.
