According to Parrish, there is no firm timetable for Anunoby's return. For the time being, he's out indefinitely, and the team will provide updates based on how his ankle responds to treatment.
"He couldn't go back in the game," Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean said Wednesday night, per the Indianapolis Star's Andy Wittry. "It's (a) high (sprain), so we'll see."
The sophomore has started the 2016-17 season in stellar fashion, and his 16-point outing against the Tar Heels stood out on a night when the Hoosiers offense was cooking.
Six games into the fresh campaign, Anunoby is averaging 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 57.4 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three-point range.
The good news for the Hoosiers is that even if Anunoby does miss a bit of time, their schedule is forgiving over the next two-plus weeks. Indiana will be back in action Friday against the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars, and its two games after that will come against the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and Houston Baptist Huskies on Sunday and Dec. 10, respectively.
At this rate, the Hoosiers simply need Anunoby to be healthy enough to suit up for their Dec. 17 game against the Butler Bulldogs.
