Lomachenko vs. Walters: Live Round-by-Round Results and Fight Highlights
Vasyl Lomachenko toyed with Nicholas Walters, who quit on his stool after the seventh round in a fight where he was being dominated but didn't appear hurt, to retain his WBO Super Featherweight Championship on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KO) was flawless once again.
He was simply too quick and too good.
Lomachenko used his footwork to completely nullify Walters big right hand and put himself in position to land precision combination punches. He was never clipped by anything big by the Jamaican power puncher and was in total command for every minute of every round.
It looked like a glorified sparring session.
Walters (26-1-1, 21 KO) is going to have a hard time recovering from this loss.
Fight fans tend to forgive losses, even bad ones, but the unforgivable sin in boxing is quitting.
Walters was being totally outclassed and was never in the fight, but he didn't seem hurt when he told referee Tony Weeks between Round 7 and 8 that he didn't want to continue.
"No, I don't," he told Weeks on the HBO broadcast, ending the fight suddenly to heavy boos from the crowd.
