Pac-10 Week 6 Preview
Week 6 will be a defining week for a lot of teams in the conference. UCLA started off the season strong, but is coming off a loss last week, will they be able to rebound and upset the University of Oregon? ASU is playing Washington State who has looked sub-par all year, but the Sun Devils struggled last week and were very shaky even though they wee at home. Stanford is travelling to Corvallis, Oregon to take on the Beavers, if the Cardinal improve to 4-0 in conference play, I will be ready to say that this is the year they break their streak of not making it to a postseason bowl game. Arizona has been struggling and so have the Washington Huskies. Both teams will be looking for win and it will be interesting to see who get the win in Seattle.
13 Oregon @ UCLA: Ducks quarterback Jeremiah Masoli is listed as day to day after tweaking his knee in the Washington State game last Saturday. He did not practice on Monday or Tuesday. Back-up quarterback Nate Costa has game experience and would be able to run the offense, but Masoli is showing improvement and gives the Ducks the best chance to win. I feel confident that Masoli will be able to play and I feel that the Ducks will leave Pasadena with a win. The offense is rolling and the defense is a surprising 28th in the country.
Arizona State @ Washington State: I’m picking the Sun Devils in this one. Not because I think they are a good team, but because Washington State is that bad. The Sun Devils looked lost on the field last week as Oregon State’s Rodgers brothers ran all over the field. Quarterback Danny Sullivan is on the hot seat this week. He has struggled so far this year and has a lot of the Sun Devil fans calling not a replacement. If he does not have a good game on Saturday, look for him to relinquish the starting role.
Stanford @ Oregon State: This is the week that everyone realizes Stanford is a legitimate threat within this conference. Running back Toby Gerhart is the real deal and will prove himself once again on Saturday. Oregon State is coming off a win last week, but the offense was one dimensional and they capitalized on ASU’s horrible offense more than anything. Stanford gets the win and moves to 4-0 in conference play.
Arizona @ Washington: This game is tough because both teams really need a win to regain confidence and swagger. The Huskies are at home, coming off a 2 game losing streak, and showed improvement in last week’s loss at Notre Dame. Jake Locker will lead his team to victory and Steve Sarkesian will make sure that the Huskies don’t lose for the third time in 3 weeks.
