Charlie Strong Reportedly to Be Fired by Texas
Texas Longhorns head football coach Charlie Strong has been on the hot seat for most of the 2016 season, and it appears his time in Austin has come to an end.
Chip Brown of HornsDigest.com reported Strong will be let go Saturday morning. Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel confirmed Brown's report.
Strong said after the team's 31-9 loss to TCU on Friday that he "hasn't been told about future" and "plans to come back," per Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News.
"Next year, I want to come back," Strong said on Nov. 21. "Wins and losses don’t stack up. You’re looking at a young football team."
On Nov. 21, Brett McMurphy of ESPN.com reported multiple Texas boosters are placing "extreme pressure" on the Longhorns administration to fire Strong and bring in Houston Cougars head coach Tom Herman.
Now that Strong is expected to be officially let go on Saturday, the Texas administration can begin courting his replacement.
