Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Harry Kane and Julian Weigl
Manchester City are reportedly one of the clubs looking to sign Harry Kane after Tottenham Hotspur agreed to put contract talks on hold amid a pay dispute at the club. Meanwhile, Barcelona have entered the race to sign Julian Weigl.
According to the Sun's Neil Ashton, Tottenham and Kane are "at loggerheads" following reports the latter is seeking a substantial increase in salary to bring him closer to the club's highest earners.
Manchester City are said to be among the teams interested in luring Kane away from White Hart Lane in the event he did leave, although Manchester United and Chelsea would be ready and able to offer stiff competition.

Yahoo Sport UK's Andrew Gaffney suggested some doubt as to the authenticity of the reports, however, hinting we could see Kane stage a surprise by signing a new agreement with the north Londoners instead:
The ordeal is said to have left the impression that Kane's "loyalty is being tested," according to Ashton, and City may be able to pay what Spurs are not should the possibility of a transfer emerge.
Tottenham may be wise to at least consider bumping up Kane's earnings considering last season's Premier League Golden Boot winner is such a critical piece of their lineup, as illustrated by the Sun's Dream Team FC:
It's said Moussa Sissoko's summer arrival has also added to tensions due to the fact he's on £95,000 a week, a staggering £35,000 a week more than Kane takes home. This has led to French compatriot Hugo Lloris, who is also among the club's highest earners on £90,000 a week, stalling in contract talks, too.
City could use Kane as a replacement for incumbent hitman Sergio Aguero following reports the Argentina ace has fallen out with manager Pep Guardiola, although he recently told ESPN Radio (h/t Sky Sports) those rumours are wide of the mark:
"I never had problems with Guardiola, nor him with me. He always helped me and gave me advice.
After the game with Paraguay, I was emotionally very bad. Guardiola helped me a lot, he told me to try not to pay so much attention to what is said. He makes me focus on winning.
For now I'm fine at Manchester City, and the day I leave it will be to return to Independiente. How long has it been rumoured about Real Madrid? I'm very happy at City and more so now with Pep.
This month I've been thinking very positively. In the last few weeks my head has changed a lot.

Elsewhere, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo (h/t TalkSport) reported Barcelona are examining Borussia Dortmund midfielder Weigl as a potential partner for Sergio Busquets.
The young German has earned rave reviews at Signal Iduna Park under manager Thomas Tuchel, and Bleacher Report's Lars Pollmann recently praised the 21-year-old during his UEFA Champions League outing against Sporting CP:
However, the Black and Yellows are doing all in their power to keep their playmaker out of City's clutches, and the Mirror's Alex Richards reported the Germans are even willing to treble Weigl's wages to £60,000 a week.
Richards added Dortmund value their Germany international at £20 million, 10 times the figure that took him to the club from 1860 Munich last year, although both Barca and City may be willing to stump up such a fee.
