Recap
The Citizens cruised to an easy win on Saturday, their first in seven tries across all competitions, thanks to Aguero and Gundogan, who both struck twice.
Aguero opened the score early with a clever finish and doubled his tally with a fantastic strike from just outside the box. As shared by Bleacher Report UK, fantasy players all over the world rejoiced:
West Brom never even came close to Claudio Bravo's goal in the first half, and while the hosts improved after the break, Gundogan added two more goals to secure the win. Kevin De Bruyne started from the bench but made a late appearance, adding an assist.
As shared by Goal's Sam Lee, even the West Brom fans had fun with City's dominance:
Aguero was the star man, however, and as shared by Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail, manager Pep Guardiola noticed his sudden scoring form:
United somehow failed to beat Burnley despite a multitude of open chances in a match that was filled with more controversy than goals.
Ander Herrera was sent off for a second bookable offence in the second half, although he seemed to slip and tried to avoid making contact, rather than make a tackle. Manager Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands, and the home fans were furious when Mark Clattenburg didn't award a penalty for a clip on Matteo Darmian.
Clattenburg wasn't the only villain on Saturday, however―star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed several wide-open chances, including a point-blank shot after a great cross from Paul Pogba. As shared by Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News, the Swede's shooting boots are missing:
Arsenal enjoyed more success at Sunderland, with Sanchez and Giroud firing the Gunners to a 4-1 win and a share of the Premier League lead.
The Black Cats are still the only winless team in the Premier League and have earned just two points from their first 10 matches. As shared by Bleacher Repert's Sam Tighe, even Aston Villa made a better start last season:
Saturday's most entertaining clash took place at Selhurst Park, where Crystal Palace and Liverpool served up yet another crazy encounter.
The Reds took the lead through Emre Can and Dejan Lovren, but each time, the Eagles equalised via James McArthur, who was aided by a comedy of errors from Lovren and goalkeeper Loris Karius.
Joel Matip made it 3-2 after just 44 minutes, and Bleacher Report UK summarised the first half like this:
By comparison, the second half was rather tame. Roberto Firmino gave the Reds a two-goal cushion after 71 minutes, and that would be enough for the win and a share of the top spot in the standings.
