The striker took to social media to celebrate his deal, which will allow him to continue his heroics with the club:
DW Sports' Stefan Bienkowski and BT Sport's Archie Rhind-Tutt noted the importance of securing his long-term future with a new deal:
Lewandowski joined Bayern on a free transfer in the summer of 2014, agreeing a five-year contract with the German powerhouse after signing a pre-contract agreement in January of that year.
The forward's previous deal was set to expire in 2019, but after thriving over the course of his first two-and-a-half years at the Allianz, Lewandowski has opted to prolong his stay with Der FCB.
The 28-year-old has gone on to score 86 goals in 122 appearances for the club, per Transfermarkt, including a terrific haul of 30 league goals in 2015-16 en route to claiming the Bundesliga's top scorer award.
Lewandowski played a big role in Bayern winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2015 and 2016, and the frontman is likely to once again be pivotal in helping manager Carlo Ancelotti chase the same accolade this term.
