Sanu Out vs. Rams

Friday, Dec. 9

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Falcons head coach Dan Quinn announced Friday that Sanu will not be active for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Latest on Sanu's Practice Status

Friday, Dec. 9

Per the Falcons' official website, Sanu has not practiced all week while dealing with the groin injury.

After spending four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, Sanu signed a five-year deal with the Falcons in the offseason to take the place of Roddy White as one of Atlanta's two starting wideouts.

Sanu has had a solid season with 521 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 49 catches in 12 games.

The absence of Sanu looms even larger because Julio Jones also hasn't practiced the previous two days while dealing with turf toe. Even though the Rams don't light up the scoreboard, potentially playing without their top two wide receivers leaves the Falcons in a difficult spot.

The good news is Atlanta does have a lot of diverse talent on offense with quarterback Matt Ryan and running backs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman to help carry things without Sanu.

Sanu has bounced around as a starter and No. 3 receiver throughout his career. The Falcons have given him the chance to start each week, and he's rewarded that faith with a strong effort to this point.

Since the Falcons have playoff aspirations, losing any of their key offensive playmakers for one week is a major setback.
