Recap

Sporting were on the verge of upsetting the reigning champions on Wednesday, as the Portuguese club held a one-goal lead with two minutes left in regulation, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Morata turned things around in a hurry for Los Blancos.

First, Ronaldo powered home a fantastic free-kick, before Morata struck deep in injury time with a header. Per OptaJose, the former Juventus man seems to save his best for Europe's top competition:

The British clubs and BVB stole the show on Wednesday, however. Dortmund took the lead in Poland through Mario Gotze inside the first 10 minutes and never looked back, running Legia ragged.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Marc Bartra, Raphael Guerreiro, Gonzalo Castro and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all got their names on the scoresheet, as the hosts barely put up any resistance. Bleacher Report's Lars Pollman was not impressed:

Over in Belgium, debutants Leicester City did well in their first-ever Champions League match, beating Club Brugge 3-0. Marc Albrighton opened the score early, and Riyad Mahrez added two more goals for the Foxes, including one from the penalty spot.

Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe still struggled to wrap his head around who scored the opener:

So did the man himself:

Spurs didn't fare as well, as manager Mauricio Pochettino's men lost 2-1 at Wembley Stadium. Bernardo Silva gave Monaco a shock lead with a great strike, and substitute Thomas Lemar doubled their advantage against the run of play.

Toby Alderweireld pulled one back before half-time, but after the break, Monaco easily defended their one-goal advantage.

In Manchester, Sergio Aguero put up quite the show with a hat-trick, as the Citizens cruised to a 4-0 win over Monchengladbach after their match on Tuesday was moved due to heavy rains. The visitors' official Twitter account showed their great sense of humour:

Kelechi Iheanacho added a goal as well, continuing his fine form.

In Italy, Juventus couldn't get past Sevilla, with the two teams playing out a drab goalless draw. Lyon lead Group H as a result, easily beating Dinamo Zagreb 3-0.

CSKA Moscow held Bayer Leverkusen to a 2-2 draw, and FC Copenhagen also impressed, grabbing a point against FC Porto. Both teams were expected to be cannon fodder in their respective groups, but after strong starts, they've positioned themselves well for the rest of the group stages.
