Logan Tago Arrested: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Washington State linebacker Logan Tago was arrested Monday and charged with felony assault and robbery in relation to an altercation with another man in June. 

Pullman Radio (via Jacob Thorpe of the Spokesman-Review) reported that Tago, a starter for the Cougars, is alleged to have been part of a group who assaulted another man and robbed him of a case of beer.

Washington State coach Mike Leach refused to say whether Tago would be in the lineup while the case is pending, per Stefanie Loh of the Seattle Times.

A man alleged Tago and a group of acquaintances requested he give them his beer and began assaulting him when he refused. He suffered a concussion in the attack and identified Tago as one of the men when asked by police. None of the other men have been identified, nor is it clear if there were any other football players involved.

Tago, a sophomore, recorded seven sacks through his first two games of the 2016 season. He has been part of a linebacker rotation and is listed as a "possible starter" against Idaho on Saturday, per Thorpe.

Leach's program has come under fire of late due to off-field troubles. Safety Shalom Luani was arrested in August for an alleged assault, and football players were allegedly involved in a fight this summer when another man suffered a broken jaw.

Leach spoke about the recent arrests at length on Tuesday, asking in part why "other guilty parties" have not been charged in the incidents involving football players, per Thorpe:

If the other guilty parties are not accused or charged, their needs to be an extensive investigation as to why. How in the world can only football parties be guilty in events depicted like this? It is irresponsible to this town, this community and everybody to have some kind of a double standard where we only focus on one demographic, one group of people and then drag their name through the newspaper with a bunch of irresponsible comments.

We can't allow the double standard. Because of all these inconsistencies, all I'm left with is to presume them innocent until proven guilty, which is what I should have done in the first place. With that said, if they have charges, fine. We're going to let the legal system take its course. But the system has to be checked if with the number of people involved in these incidents the only ones accused are football players. If that's the case, then something is seriously wrong, which goes far deeper than whatever has even been alleged. And whatever has even been alleged is only fractionally accurate.

Tago would likely be dismissed from the program if found guilty of the theft charge, per Thorpe.
