Manchester United Transfer News: Bastian Schweinsteiger Rejects Sporting Lisbon
Bastian Schweinsteiger is said to have incurred the wrath of Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho after he rejected the opportunity to join Sporting Lisbon on a free transfer.
The Daily Record's Duncan Castles reported the German has decided to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford after turning down Sporting, who could have snatched the midfielder's services for nothing.

The Daily Star's David Woods reported Mourinho was left "furious" with Schweinsteiger's refusal to leave the Red Devils, having already consigned the 2014 World Cup winner to training with the club's reserves.
Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News reported a move to Major League Soccer could be an option for the player in future, although that won't come to fruition this summer now the league's transfer window is closed:
Castles added Schweinsteiger will remain with United until at least January.
Full Time Devils recently provided footage of Mourinho expanding upon what it might take for Schweinsteiger to earn his way back into the manager's plans this season:
The 32-year-old recently opened up on his relationship with new manager Mourinho and said he still wants to make a success out of his career with the Premier League club, per MailOnline's Jack Gaughan:
"My absolute dream would be to play for Manchester United and help them reach the goals they have.
Of course we have had talks and I have no problem with Jose Mourinho. We had a good chat and he told me his side of things and I also know what I want.
We've got to wait and see how things go in September and October, but there is respect between us and that's important for me.
"
Schweinsteiger was brought to United from Bayern Munich last summer, but he failed to meet expectations under managerial predecessor Louis van Gaal and started just 21 times across all competitions.
United would have even been willing to subsidise some of the veteran's wages if he joined Sporting, according to Castles, but Schweinsteiger's immediate future now looks likely to unfold at Old Trafford.
