Meanwhile, BBC Sport confirmed the fee and also revealed how aerial powerhouse Slimani has signed a five-year contract with the Foxes.
The player revealed his pride at joining the English champions, per the club's official site:
Slimani also admitted how he'd spoken to Algerian international team-mate and star City winger Riyad Mahrez about life at the King Power Stadium:
Earlier in the day, Sporting wished their star forward well on social media:
Slimani enjoyed a phenomenal campaign last year, racking up 31 goals in all competitions as well as six assists.
The 28-year-old has had quite the impact at Sporting:
You can view every goal from his prolific spell in Portugal here:
While not the most technically gifted of forwards, Slimani is known for his tireless work rate up front, clever movement and killer instinct in front of goal.
The Algerian is a strong, physical presence in the final third who can make life difficult for defenders, and he's a real threat in the air—he'll thrive off balls into the box.
Slimani is not one to shy away from the big occasion either—he scored seven goals against the other teams that made up Primeira Liga's top four last year, and his impressive record against FC Porto earned him a special nickname, per Portuguese football expert Jan Hagen:
The Foxes will be pleased with such a record—they will play Porto twice in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
His attributes should ensure he's well-suited to Premier League football, and in terms of strength and aerial prowess, he's fairly similar to Leonardo Ulloa.
However, as his goal record shows, he's more prolific than the Argentinian, who could struggle for game time this season as he competes for places with Jamie Vardy, Ahmed Musa and Shinji Okazaki.
Algerian football journalist Maher Mezahi believes he will be a good fit at the King Power Stadium:
Defending their title will still be a monumental task—arguably even more difficult than winning it in the first place—but Slimani may prove to be an excellent buy for the champions, who can harbour realistic ambitions of a top-half finish if not a European place.
Given the right service—which he should receive from the likes of Mahrez, Musa and Danny Drinkwater—he'll thrive in England.
