USMNT Watch: Bedoya Transfers to MLS, Rimando Breaks MLS Wins Record
Most of the major news surrounding those in the United States men's national team talent pool in the last week came out of Major League Soccer.
Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya became the latest big name to come home, while Nick Rimando achieved a milestone in net for Real Salt Lake.
Elsewhere across the globe, a few players started their respective seasons in Europe, and some young players continued their roads to recovery.

Alejandro Bedoya Leaves Nantes for MLS
The Philadelphia Union made the biggest splash of the MLS transfer window as they acquired Bedoya from Ligue 1 side Nantes.
The 29-year-old New Jersey native joins Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore, Tim Howard and a few others in the growing group of Americans who have come home after successful spells in Europe.
Bedoya started his professional career in Sweden with Orebro, and he also spent time at Rangers and Helsingborgs before moving to Nantes.
Unlike some of the other stars who have moved back home, Bedoya has never played a minute in MLS. He joined Orebro after playing at Boston College.
Bedoya should play centrally for the Union in either a No. 8 or No. 10 role. He won't play there at the international level due to his work rate on the wing, but playing inside shouldn't affect his national team stock much.
In addition to bringing in Bedoya, the Union also traded for American forward Charlie Davies at the end of the transfer window.
Nick Rimando Breaks MLS Wins Record
Rimando set a new mark in the MLS record book in Real Salt Lake's 3-1 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday. The victory was the 181st of Rimando's MLS career.

The win moved Rimando past Kevin Hartman on the MLS all-time wins list. The 37-year-old RSL netminder has a career record of 181-135-98, but despite all his splendid play in net, he's never won the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Since he appears to have a few more years left in his legs, Rimando should eclipse the 200-win mark either by the end of the 2017 season or at the start of the 2018 campaign.
Two field players also made their marks on Saturday's MLS action, as Steve Birnbaum and Altidore scored for their respective sides.
Birnbaum netted a stoppage-time equalizer in D.C. United's 2-2 draw with Philadelphia at RFK Stadium.
Altidore, who is still working his way back from an injury, scored the final tally of Toronto FC's 4-1 win over New England.
Chris Wondolowski had a few quality chances in front of the net on Friday, but he was unable to convert on any of them in San Jose's 0-0 draw with New York City FC.
American Defenders Open Championship Season
The American conglomerate in the Championship began the grueling schedule of the English second division this weekend.
Tim Ream came off the bench for Fulham in their Friday contest with Newcastle United to start the full league campaign.

Danny Williams and Jonathan Spector started for Reading and Birmingham City, respectively, and Eric Lichaj made an appearance off the bench for Nottingham Forest.
Brad Guzan, who recently signed with promoted side Middlesbrough, did not feature in his club's friendly on Saturday.
Andrew Wooten Records Assist in Season Opener
The American contingent in the German second division also began their season this weekend, with Andrew Wooten making the most significant contribution to his team.
Wooten, 26, provided an assist in Sandhausen's 2-2 draw with Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday.
More big news came out of Germany for the American strike corps as Terrence Boyd started for Red Bull Leipzig in their friendly win over Eibar.

If Boyd is able to work back to full fitness and stay healthy throughout the season, he might be able to move his way back into the USMNT picture.
News and Notes: Ethan Horvath Earns Much-Needed Win
Ethan Horvath guided Molde to a 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt in Norway on Saturday. The USMNT goalkeeper made three saves as Molde halted their six-game winless run.
Rubio Rubin started and played the full 90 in Utrecht's Eredivisie opener against PSV Eindhoven.
Michael Orozco, Jonathan Bornstein and Luis Gil were among the American starters in Liga MX this weekend. William Yarbrough made four saves in Club Leon's defeat to Monterrey.
