Bartosz Kapustka to Leicester City: Latest Transfer Details, Reaction and More
Premier League champions Leicester City confirmed the signing of Cracovia midfielder Bartosz Kapustka on Wednesday, with the Poland international penning a five-year deal at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes announced the news on their official Twitter feed:
Per Sky Sports News HQ, Leicester agreed a deal worth around £7.5 million to secure the 19-year-old Kapustka, who recently represented Poland at Euro 2016.
The player himself previously said that Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri played a big role in his decision to move to Leicester, per Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (via Sky Sports' Paul Vinnell):
"Yes, of all the offers tabled, Leicester wanted me the most.
Ranieri's interest was a big factor for me. He was asking about me, he wanted me to join the team. This convinced me, but there were many factors.
I'm not going there only because of the name of the club, or because they won the Premier League. I'm optimistic and think I have a real chance of playing time.
"
Kapustka impressed at Euro 2016, playing in four of Poland's five matches in France and starting two out on the left flank.
Former Leicester striker and BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker noted his immense talent:
Kapustka is likely to play on the opposite flank to Riyad Mahrez in the Foxes' attack, assuming the Algerian does not make a much-rumoured move to Arsenal, per the Telegraph.
He will compete with Marc Albrighton for the left-wing role and has all the attributes to be an effective star for the Foxes.
A right-footed player—although comfortable on his left—Kapustka likes to cut in from the flank and unleash shots, while he boasts good pace and should prove effective in Leicester's famously devastating counter-attacking style.
See below for some of his highlights from the 2015-16 season:
The Polish teenager is Leicester's fifth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Luis Hernandez, Ron-Robert Zieler, Nampalys Mendy and Ahmed Musa.
Ranieri's men will start their Premier League defence in the 2016-17 season with an opening match away at Hull City on August 13.
