Barcelona Transfer News: Latest Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo Rumours
Barcelona will reportedly not sell back-up goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen unless his €80 million (£67 million) release clause is met, while Blaugrana No. 1 Claudio Bravo has threatened to leave the club if he loses his starting spot.
Ter Stegen, 24, has spent his two seasons at the Camp Nou playing as the club's cup goalkeeper—in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League—while Bravo is the undisputed No. 1 in La Liga.
Clearly the Germany international is not happy with the situation and is reportedly willing to leave the club in search of more regular first-team football having told Barca he "has a big offer on the table" from Manchester City, per Sport.

However, the Liga champions' response was simply: "If you want to go, pay the clause."

They reportedly have taken the same stance with 33-year-old Bravo—whose release clause is €40 million (£33.6 million)—who told the club last Friday that he will leave if he is demoted as the No. 1 goalkeeper in La Liga, per Catalunya Radio (via Sport).
What seems clear is that manager Luis Enrique is not going to be able to satisfy his two goalkeepers in the 2016-17 season by employing the same alternating tactic he has in the last two terms.
Indeed, it seems that at least one of Bravo or Ter Stegen is destined for the exit door at the Camp Nou.
However, if Barca really do hold out for one of their release clauses to be met, it is unclear who will come in to snap them up.
While Ter Stegen has huge potential and has already proved to be a top-class goalkeeper, it is unlikely that City will be willing to pay nearly £70 million for him.
Similarly, Chile international Bravo is a skillful and experienced stopper—he has won two Liga titles, a Champions League and two Copa Americas—but £33.6 million is a huge fee for a player in the latter stages of his career.
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe sees Enrique continuing with Bravo as the first-choice option between the posts in the upcoming term:
However, Spanish football writer Sergi Dominguez believes Ter Stegen should be promoted to the No. 1 spot:
It would make sense for Ter Stegen to now be used more as he is surely the No. 1 of the future at Barca and could be a key part of the squad for the next decade.
However, it is a volatile situation and one that seems unlikely to be resolved without either Bravo or Ter Stegen leaving before the close of the summer transfer window.
