Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Bastian Schweinsteiger, Adnan Januzaj
Lazio will attempt an audacious move to lure Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger to Rome, per Il Corriere dello Sport (h/t Archie Vaughan Williams of Gazzetta World).
The 32-year-old has been made surplus to requirements at Old Trafford under new manager Jose Mourinho, after the Portuguese revealed a list of nine players he deemed unwanted, per Joe Bernstein of MailOnline.
Schweinsteiger has now been offered a speedy exit from Manchester, with the Italian capital club willing to offer the retired Germany international first-team football in a move not dissimilar to their 2011 coup in capturing his compatriot Miroslav Klose.

Per Jack Wilson of the Daily Star, Schweinsteiger is among the top earners at United, taking home a reported £200,000 per week.
Lazio would be unable to offer the midfielder such luxuries, and the 2014 World Cup winner will be forced to take a severe wage cut should he accept the offer of a move to Italy.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Biancocelesti would only be able to offer him half of his €6 million (£5.05 million) per year contract, which could be a stumbling block in any potential move.
A regular starter when fit under former boss Louis van Gaal, the winger-turned-anchorman persistently frustrated the Theatre of Dreams faithful with his monotone, conservative approach and refusal to play the ball direct.
WhoScored reveal the statistics behind his Premier League form last term:
Per WhoScored.com, the experienced deep-lying playmaker made just 13 starts under Van Gaal last season, after a series of injuries at the turn of the year kept him sidelined for a big chunk of his maiden campaign in English football.
Despite his frailties, former club Bayern Munich are interested in bringing their prodigal son back to the Allianz Arena, per Allan Valente of Sky Sports.

Reportedly forced to train with the reserves on his 32nd birthday on Monday, Bayern chief executive officer Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Bild Sport that Schweinsteiger would be welcome back in Bavaria. Per Valente, he was quoted as saying: "Should he speak at some point about a desire to return, then we will discuss it with him."
Mourinho's summer clear-out is set to continue, with competition heating up for outgoing forward Adnan Januzaj with Lazio, Everton and Sunderland battling it out for his signature, per Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t TalkSport).

The Italians have once more shown interest in a player the Portuguese coach has no need for and see the 21-year-old attacker as a perfect replacement for outgoing winger Antonio Candreva. Januzaj burst on to the scene as a youngster during the 2013-14 campaign under ex-boss David Moyes, going on to score four league goals in 27 appearances in a breakout season, per WhoScored.com.
United flop Marouane Fellaini has also been linked with a move to the north-east alongside his Belgian compatriot, per Alex Shaw of ESPN:
However, his impact at the club has continued to dwindle with reduced playing time. Last year he was sent out on loan to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, but the time away from the club did not reinvigorate his performances or confidence as he once more failed to make the grade.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Ronald Koeman at Everton is also interested, while Moyes is hoping to regroup with his former starlet at the Stadium of Light.
