Eriksen Doubtful For Melbourne Friendly

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen is a major doubt for the north London side against Atletico on Friday, as the player has been suffering with a virus.
Per Sam Long of the London Evening Standard, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "He got a virus when we arrived in Australia on Saturday. It was impossible for him to be involved in the game [against Juventus]. We'll see. We will see what happens on Friday, and we hope he will be available to play 45 minutes."

Spurs were unlucky against the Serie A champions at the MCG, but the Italians looked sharper than their Premier League opponents.
Pochettino's team went close to winning the Premier League last term, and their influential Denmark international played a major part in helping Harry Kane to a hatful of goals.
The 24-year-old midfielder provided seven goals and 14 assists in the English league and Europe, according to WhoScored.com, as Spurs played out one of their best campaigns in a generation.

Tottenham travel to Everton in their first outing of the Premier League season on August 13, and they clearly need game time before they reach Goodision Park. Atleti will be the English side's penultimate match of pre-season before the serious action begins in earnest.
Spurs are also in the middle of a clear-out of their squad as they search for buyers for a number of their fringe talent, as reported by Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Independent:
Atletico also need a step up in quality opposition, and Spurs will provide a stiff test for the Vicente Calderon Stadium side.
The Liga team have taken a strong squad to the MCG, including star names such as Fernando Torres, Gabi, Diego Godin and Jan Oblak, per Michael Huguenin of Goal. Antoine Griezmann has been omitted from the trip after a busy summer at Euro 2016, and Spain international Koke also won't feature.
Former Liverpool and Chelsea ace Torres turned back the clock last season, scoring 11 goals in 30 appearances in La Liga, per WhoScored.

The primary objective of every team in the ICC is to build fitness—and not lose any additional names to injury before the domestic season begins.
Spurs were contenders for the title last term, but they finished the campaign devoid of form and inspiration.
On the other hand, Atleti finished strongly and once again found passage to the UEFA Champions League final, where they lost to neighbours Real Madrid.
Simeone and Pochettino have proved themselves to be two of Europe's great young coaches, and both men could find themselves at even bigger clubs in 12 months' time.
