Real Madrid Transfer News: Robert Lewandowski Sale Discussed by Carlo Ancelotti

Christopher SimpsonJul 20, 2016

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out the sale of Robert Lewandowski and believes reported suitors Real Madrid have little need for his services.

According to Sport Bild (h/t Goal's Stefan Coerts), the Italian said of Lewandowski, who has been linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu:

"

Real Madrid have a number of fantastic players, like [Karim] Benzema, [Gareth] Bale and [Cristiano] Ronaldo. They don't need Lewandowski as well.

And even if they feel they do need Lewandowski, Bayern will not sell him.

Why would we sell one of the best strikers in the world? I would not swap Lewandowski for any other striker in the world.

The 27-year-old has been considered one of the top strikers in Europe for some time, a reputation that was further cemented last season as he netted 42 goals in all competitions.

The Bundesliga shared the 30 he scored in just 32 league games:

BT Sport's Archie Rhind-Tutt added further insight into his remarkable domestic tally:

However, Ancelotti has a point—Los Blancos already have their famed "BBC" up front and also re-signed Alvaro Morata this summer.

It was widely thought Morata would simply be moved on again for a profit, but the Spaniard is set to hold talks with manager Zinedine Zidane, who wants him to stay, per Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard.

As revealed by DW Sports' Stefan Bienkowski, Lewandowski is used to playing virtually every game at Bayern:

Similarly, Real's front three start almost every game when fitunless being rested in the occasional cup match—so neither the Pole nor they will readily accept a reduced role.

While Lewandowski is a more prolific goalscorer than all of Madrid's attackers bar Ronaldo, a move doesn't seem likely unless at least one of them is sold.
