
Chelsea Transfer News: Diego Costa Bid Reportedly Rejected Amid Atletico Rumours
Chelsea have reportedly rejected a €60 million (£50.3 million) offer from Atletico Madrid for Diego Costa and vowed he will not be sold.
According to Spanish outlet Marca (h/t Sport Witness), the Blues not only said no to the bid, they also "refused to enter into further negotiations with Atletico and told them not to bother returning with another offer for the player."
On the Blues' pre-season tour in Austria, Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte was full of praise for Costa:

The Spain international scored 64 goals in 134 games for Los Rojiblancos, who lack the firepower of their rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona despite the presence of Antoine Griezmann.
Chelsea recruited Michy Batshuayi this summer in a bid to increase their own attacking capabilities, but they have few options beyond the Belgian and Costa.

Costa staying is good news for Chelsea, who will need all the firepower they can get as they wage war with Jose Mourinho's Manchester United, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City and others next season.
Though he often goes too far with his aggressive behaviour, his physicality and hunger are valuable traits that often help Chelsea win matches.
Further, he's a proven goalscorer at Premier League level—he's an excellent candidate to partner Batshuayi or serve as cover for him should he be injured or the move simply not work out.
The offer of €60 million is a lot of money to turn down, but it could well prove to be worth it in the end.
