Jordan Spieth at British Open 2016: Friday Leaderboard Score, Twitter Reaction
World No. 3 Jordan Spieth failed to improve from his first-round performance on a wet and windy day at Round 2 of the 2016 British Open, carding a four-over 75 at Royal Troon on Friday.
The American superstar appeared frustrated throughout the round, seemingly getting outfoxed by the famous links course in Scotland.
Spieth had to wait until the end of the round to find out if he had made the cut, and he was successful by the narrowest of margins.
The prodigy suffered with the putter in hand and found it difficult to read the soaked greens during his second-round effort.
Here is the 22-year-old's Round 2 scorecard from Ayrshire, Scotland:

Spieth Suffers and Fails To Deliver
The American wonder was way below his best at the British Open and fought against the wind as he played out a theatrical personal battle at Royal Troon.
Spieth's swing looked solid off the tee throughout the day, but his short game and putting left much to be desired.
The major winner flirted with the projected cut throughout Friday and ended level with the final total to remain in the competition ahead of the third round.

The young golfer appeared solid over the opening three holes, despite bogeying the first. He sank a birdie on the fourth to fire his round.
However, a bogey on the sixth tripped up the 2015 U.S Open and Masters winner, as he fell to one over. A double bogey on the eighth compounded the superstar's misery, as he failed to deal with the cold conditions.
ESPN.com's Michael Collins speculated about Spieth's fate:

Spieth checked out from the front nine with 39 for three over, failing to threaten the upper echelons of the leaderboard.
A birdie on the 12th temporarily gave the American a modicum of hope, but his putting was consistently below his best, as he posted a bogey on the 15th hole.
Spieth gave an audible scream on the 16th tee as he hooked his effort into the rough, with conditions deteriorating fast through the afternoon.
Liverpool Echo's Kristian Walsh highlighted how poor one of the pre-tournament favourites was:

However, sports reporter Brad Townsend gave the world No. 3 credit as he desperately fought to better his score:

Spieth finally had better form with the putter on the 17th, as he came close to sinking a long-range effort, inches from a much-needed birdie.
He settled for par, as the field equally suffered under the darkening skies. The 22-year-old attacked the 18th from the tee as the wind whistled across the fairway, and he landed his ball in a great position as the weather mildly improved just in time.
The Texan came home in four over par and must wait to see if his efforts are good enough to remain in the Open.

Spieth did not look comfortable on Thursday and appeared even more out of form on Friday. The usual magic he produces wasn't on tap, and he looked depressed near each green and bunker.
The American was unlucky with how the conditions turned on him during the second half of the second nine, but he failed to remain consistent through the day.
Once again, Phil Mickelson produced a vintage display and is the man to beat over the weekend, currently sitting on 10 under par.
The legend gave a virtuoso performance of how to play links golf in the British rain, and only a complete reversal in fortunes will see him displaced on Saturday.
