Coleman said on Wednesday that he would be "full go for Friday" when the Browns play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the team's third preseason game, per Tony Grossi of ESPN. The Browns did not list Coleman among the players who likely would not play on Friday evening.
Coleman Browns' Most Promising WR
The No. 15 pick in April's draft, Coleman arrived in Cleveland with massive expectations of becoming a downfield threat. He won the Biletnikoff Award and was a consensus All-American during his final season at Baylor, racking up 1,363 yards and 20 touchdowns through the air.
“He’s a tremendous player. He’s going to be pretty good. I ride him pretty hard because he has so much ability and I want to get it out of him,” head coach Hue Jackson said, per Patrick Maks of the Browns' official website.
“He’s really shown why we drafted him in the first round. He is a tremendous talent. If he keeps working like he is and stays as humble and he has great desire to be a great football player, I think that’s going to happen for him. He’s still got to earn it. He’s got to work for it. He’s got to go fight for it to go get it. I think he will.”
The Browns' wide receiver depth chart was almost completely bare upon Coleman's arrival, so he doesn't have much holding him back. Their leading wide receiver last year, Travis Benjamin, is now in San Diego. The likes of Marlon Moore and Andrew Hawkins have spent most of camp battling for the second wideout spot until Josh Gordon returns from suspension.
Their roles will no doubt increase if Coleman, who has a history of hamstring problems, ends up missing time down the road.
