Kane Inches Toward £5m-a-Year Extension

The Sun's Alan Nixon reported the north Londoners are hoping to agree a new five-year deal with their frontman worth £5 million a year, despite his poor form during England's disappointing Euro 2016 campaign.
Kane scored 28 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions last season and collected the 2015-16 Premier League Golden Boot after netting 25 goals in Spurs' run to third place.

The proposed new contract would see Kane's wages boosted to £100,000 a week, even though AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen is reportedly poised to offer new competition if he completes his £16 million move.
Kane failed to score for the Three Lions as they exited Euro 2016 following defeat to Iceland in the round of 16, but Tottenham seemingly are only concerned with how the player has performed at club level.
Before last season's Golden Boot the 22-year-old netted 21 goals in the 2014-15 Premier League campaign, and WhoScored.com provided further evidence to dash any doubts of Kane being a one-hit wonder:
Tottenham's new offer means Kane stands to net almost three times his current £35,000-a-week salary in a deal that will keep him tied to last season's title challengers until the summer of 2021.
Arguably the forward's greatest disappointment at the European Championship was his consistent failures from set pieces, and Yahoo's Andrew Gaffney helped illustrate his embarrassment:
Thankfully for Spurs, Kane doesn't take responsibility for corners or free-kicks, and he can be left to concentrate largely on putting the ball in the back of the net from open play instead.
It's a sterling show of faith from the north Londoners to reward their player despite his recent drop in form, which football writer Liam Canning recently helped put into context:
Before Euro 2016, Jamie Redknapp recommended Jose Mourinho make a move for Kane and Tottenham team-mate Dele Alli in his Daily Mail column, but any move now looks unlikely for the player.
A new lucrative deal in north London is sure to turn Kane's head away from the exit as he looks to repay the club's faith.
