Bracket Predictions
Bracket 1 Winner: Miami Hurricanes
You won't find a more well-rounded team than what Miami brings to the first bracket. It has a bevy of talent on both the offensive and defensive sides of the game that's helped keep the tradition of 44-straight NCAA tournaments alive and well.
Just take a look at the Hurricanes' stats this season, which are ranked among 298 Division I programs:
| Team Batting Average | .300 | 33rd |
| Home Runs | 49 | T47th |
| Runs | 433 | 24th |
| Team ERA | 3.60 | 42nd |
| Win-Loss Percentage | .806 | 1st |
Zack Collins is the anchor of Miami's lineup, as he's mashed 15 home runs this season, which is tied for 32nd in the nation, while batting over .350. Where Collins provides the power, Christopher Barr provides the speed with 14 stolen bases at a success rate of 93 percent.
Those two alone could create plenty of runs for the Hurricanes.
On the mound, Michael Mediavilla might not have the flashiest numbers with an 3.11 ERA, but he just doesn't lose. He's 11-1 on the season while striking out 82 in 98.1 innings pitched.
Bracket 2 Winner: Florida Gators
If the old adage of defense winning championships holds firm, then the Florida Gators should be the ones to make it out of the second bracket.
They're paced by a pair of pitchers that are among the top arms in the nation. A.J. Puk, who was an elite MLB draft prospect this year, is a strikeout machine. In 73.2 innings, he's struck out 101 batters, which comes out to an average of 12.34 strikeouts per nine innings, ranking fourth in the nation.
Logan Shore makes this a dynamic duo of pitchers because he simply hasn't lost this season. He's 12-0 in 2016 and is currently on a 15-game winning streak dating back to 2015.
With these kinds of arms, I can't see Florida losing two games in the championship bracket.
