U.S. Open 2016 Leaderboard: Thursday Scores, Results and Analysis
The first day of the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club was mired by poor weather. Due to the poor conditions, play was suspended at 4:34 p.m. ET.
Most of the players who started their respective rounds during the morning wave of tee times will have to come back on Friday to finish up the first round. The entire afternoon wave of threesomes did not take the course.
American Andrew Landry sits atop the leaderboard after one day of action at Oakmont. Landry, who is ranked 624th in the world, has a birdie putt awaiting him on the 18th hole when play resumes on Friday. Landry, who is three-under through 17 holes, holds a one-shot lead over Bubba Watson and Danny Lee.
Amateur Scottie Scheffler was one of the few golfers who completed 18 holes on Thursday. Scheffler, who was in one of the first two groups out on course, carded a one-under 69.
Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson were among the players who did not take a shot on the first day of the competition.
