Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Niklas Sule, Mahmoud Dahoud Rumours
Reported Liverpool transfer target Niklas Sule wants to stay with Hoffenheim for the foreseeable future, while Borussia Monchengladbach reportedly don't want to sell star midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud this summer, but the Reds are willing to wait.
Speaking to Bild (h/t Daily Express' Uche Amako), Sule responded to the transfer rumours that have followed him for weeks. The 20-year-old has frequently been linked with Liverpool, but he believes he would benefit from staying in Germany for now:
"Here I have my usual environment, the proximity to my family in Frankfurt.
To develop myself, I need playing time and a coach who trusts me. I have that in Julian Nagelsmann.
He knows me well and knows where and how he can make me better.

Sule was one of Hoffenheim's top performers last season, playing a key role in the heart of the defence. The squad didn't fare well, however, and came dangerously close to relegation.
Hoffenheim's struggles only added to the speculation, with many fans and pundits assuming the player would rather move to a bigger club than face relegation. Ultimately, it didn't matter, as the team avoided the drop at the end.

Sule is a physically imposing centre-back with superb passing range and solid athleticism, and while he's still relatively inexperienced and a little error-prone, he's the kind of talented youngster Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has found much success with in the past.
Here's a look at some of his highlights:
Like most modern German centre-backs, Sule's ability to distribute the ball is remarkable, but he's more of a throwback defender than some of his more famous compatriots such as Mats Hummels or Jerome Boateng.
Sule has impressive raw power and leaping ability, two traits that would make him an excellent fit for the high-octane Premier League. Positioning is his main weakness, but given his young age, that's to be expected, and he'll only improve with more and better coaching.
Klopp has already added a Bundesliga centre-back to his squad, signing Schalke 04's Joel Matip on a free transfer, and Sule would have been more of a high-potential back-up with an eye on the future, rather than a starter.
The youngster is probably making a good decision by staying with Hoffenheim for now―he's a regular starter and will only develop faster by playing more, and interested clubs like Liverpool will return for his services next summer.
The same holds true for Dahoud, who won't be allowed to leave Monchengladbach this summer, according to Goal (h/t Daily Express' James Cambridge).
The German side has already parted with a star midfielder, with Granit Xhaka joining Arsenal, and they reportedly have no intention of doing the same with Dahoud.

While Xhaka soaked up most of the headlines, Dahoud was one of the top breakout performers of the 2015-16 campaign, and his long-term potential may even be greater than that of Xhaka. Here's a look at his highlights:
Along with Xhaka, Monchengladbach also parted with Havard Nordtveit, who joined West Ham United, so unless a club is willing to pay silly money, Dahoud will stay put.
This shouldn't come as a big surprise but will still be a blow to Manchester United, Manchester City and the Reds, who were reportedly all looking at the 20-year-old, according to reports Cambridge cites. He notes Klopp is willing to be patient, however, and expects to have the advantage over their rivals when the hunt for his signature does start, as he shares representatives with Emre Can and Samed Yesil.
