NBA Finals 2016: Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 5 Odds, Props and Predictions
One would imagine the Golden State Warriors missing Draymond Green in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers would have a major impact on the lines out of Las Vegas.
Not really. Green got hit with a suspension, according to Basketball Insiders' Alex Kennedy, but Las Vegas still likes the home team to close out the series and win the title.
According to Odds Shark, the Warriors enter Monday's game as 5.5-point favorites, which joins an interesting array of prop bets to paint one clear picture—it would be a shock to oddsmakers if the series didn't end.
For bettors who are looking to understand and play the odds, let's take a look at the notable lines.

Green's suspension, if anything, gives bettors an easier time when it comes to player props, which are available courtesy of Stephen Campbell of Odds Shark.
One of the most popular lines, the player who scores the most points, just got a major name removed. Said removal throws those points in obvious directions.
Green (+5000) won't be winning the prop, especially if the series ends Monday. More points will shift to Stephen Curry (-125) and Klay Thompson (+400), who have 86 and 61 points in the series thus far, respectively.
Given the fact the Warriors got 45 points from their bench in Game 1, though, the honor figures to go to a member of the Cavaliers. LeBron James (+250) and Kyrie Irving (+800) lead the way with 99 and 100 points, respectively.
| Stephen Curry | -125 |
| LeBron James | +200 |
| Klay Thompson | +500 |
| Draymond Green | +850 |
| Kyrie Irving | +900 |
| Kevin Love | +2000 |
| Andre Iguodala | +3000 |
It's not the same story for MVP, though. In fact, one has to think Curry is a lock for the award after he missed out on it last year when Andre Iguodala got the nod for his two-way prowess.
Curry is like clockwork in that he improves as each series progresses. It's why he returned from injury to drop a 40-burger on Portland and saved a trio of 30-plus outings for when the Warriors were down 3-1 against Oklahoma City. Heck, he posted 38 in Game 4 after never breaching 20 in the previous three games. He made history in the process, according to ESPN Stats & Info:
Given this evidence, Curry is going to go off again thanks to the added motivation due to Green's absence and seize the MVP. However, James puts the Cavaliers on his back and winds up as the highest scorer of the series.
Game 5 and Series Props
Is the bold title above a spoiler?
There's good reason to mash the rest of the odds together because it doesn't make a ton of sense for bettors to roll with the Cavaliers, Green suspension or not.
Cleveland got an incredible win in Game 3, but the other contests haven't been close. And in that Game 3, Green only managed six points, while Curry and Thompson combined for a paltry 4-of-16 mark from deep and the team lost the rebounding battle 60-41.
Green's absence will have an impact because the Warriors won't be able to trot him out at center in a lineup that has flustered the Cavaliers so much. But even James has cautioned how little it means, given Golden State's past recent performances while missing stars, according to ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin.
"For our team, we know how dangerous they are no matter who's in the lineup," James said. "I mean, obviously we saw what they were able to do without Steph for two weeks, playing against Houston and playing against Portland. Those guys still complement each other, no matter who's out on the floor."
Golden State in five games (+300) looks like the safest play on the board, which pairs well with the five-game prop (+240).
There's a fun story in Cleveland securing a win, going back home and getting another, and then hitting the road again to steal a title and become the first team to come back from down 3-1 in the Finals.
More interesting and likely, though, is the motivated 73-win team will catch fire when it matters most (coming back from 3-1, anyone?), extending a 10-0 mark from Game 5 on—an epic tear that started last postseason.
Take the Warriors and Curry at home with confidence and marvel at how a jump-shooting team continues to evolve the sport, even sweeping aside meticulously crafted superteams.
Prediction: Warriors 112, Cavaliers 103
