Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
The 5'7", 150-pound 4-star recruit is the No. 69 overall player in his class, the No. 1 point guard in Washington, D.C., and No. 16 in the nation at his position.
Lykes is the second 2017 prospect to commit to Miami. The Hurricanes received a hard commit from 4-star power forward D.J. Russell of Jacksonville, Florida.
Lykes plays bigger than his short stature. He's an effortless three-point shooter with unlimited range and has the ability to size up a defender and attack the basket with relative ease.
He also possesses a well-rounded all-around game. He has stellar floor vision and is a feisty man-to-man defender with quick hands around the basketball.
Also, Lykes has Nate Robinson-esque athleticism when he gets a running start. For a player his size, he's the total package.
No program in the nation knows more about getting the best out of its point guards than Miami and head coach Jim Larranaga—especially recently. Shane Larkin was a first-round pick in 2013 and had a consistent role with the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 22.4 minutes per game. Angel Rodriguez, who just completed his senior year with the Hurricanes, was a vital player to Miami's Sweet 16 run this past season.
Lykes seems like more of a dynamic player than those two in terms of offense. He's a different backcourt player than what Miami is used to, but he'll bring some buzz when he arrives on campus.
