Men's Results
The Florida Gators captured their third outdoor track national championship on Friday by scoring 62 points over the course of two days in Eugene.
According to Florida Athletics, the Gators are the third team ever to win the outdoor championships while finishing outside of the top five in the indoor competition.
The celebration was on after the events concluded, per the team's Twitter account:
Arman Hall took home the 400-meter title in 44.82 seconds. He became the first Gators athlete to win the title since Tony McQuay did so in 2012, per Florida Athletics.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Phillip Dorsett reached out to Hall on Twitter to congratulate him on his victory:
It was an SEC sweep in the top three. Florida was followed by Texas A&M and Arkansas, with Oregon coming in fourth.
LSU and Tennessee rounded out the top six, meaning five of the top six squads were from the SEC.
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey was proud of the outcome:
Florida finished the championships strong and will head into the offseason with the trophy. After the Gators' dominance over the course of two days, the thought of a repeat is a strong possibility.
Women's Results
The Arkansas Razorbacks are in complete control heading into the final leg of the women's competition.
Arkansas has 26 points, followed by Texas A&M and Georgia not far behind. Dominique Scott (10,000 meters) and Alexis Weeks (pole vault) both claimed victories for the Razorbacks on Friday, with Scott winning by more than eight seconds.
The senior capped off her successful career with a big win, per Paul Boyd of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette:
Weeks completed the pole vault with rain coming down in Oregon, becoming the first woman since 2010 to win both the indoor and outdoor titles, per Meg Bellino of FloTrack.
TrackTown USA tweeted this after the event concluded:
Arkansas has competed well so far, but there are 15 events left. Much can change between now and then, but the Razorbacks are in a good spot after their two winners took care of business Friday.
