
NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships 2016: Thursday Results and Reaction
Thursday was the first day of competition for the women's side of the tournament at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Sixteen of the day's 21 events were in women's track and field, with six individual national champions being crowned.
On the men's side, the final five events of the decathlon determined a champion.

Texas A&M's Lindon Victor won the discus on Thursday, which helped him clinch the men's decathlon national title.
Victor recorded a total of 8,379 points, 79 more than second-place Zach Ziemek out of Wisconsin:

His win gained two points for the Aggies, who now sit just one point behind the two-time defending national champion Oregon Ducks.
Texas A&M also saw Maggie Malone win the javelin title, but the day belonged to the Arkansas Razorbacks, who had two national champions on Thursday.
Dominique Scott led the day off with a win in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:35.69. It was a dominant performance, as her time was 11 seconds better than second-place Alice Wright's of New Mexico.
Alexis Weeks brought the Razorbacks their second title of the day at the pole vault when she cleared her mark from 14 feet, nine inches. It was almost eight inches better than the next best pole-vaulter, Alysha Newman.
Their wins helped Arkansas jump out to an early 10-point lead in the team standings after Thursday, with Texas A&M in second.
