Baseball Player Goes Down in Agony After Fouling Ball Off Groin, Dabs It Off
No matter what position they play, a protective cup is a must for all baseball players.
While a player in the outfield, for example, may not be at risk of getting hit in a sensitive region, you never know what can happen at the plate.
Take a look at what happened to Dan O'Reilly when he was up to bat for Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
During a blowout victory, O'Reilly was trying to add to his team's massive 20-1 lead when he found himself in a world of pain. On an 0-2 pitch, he fouled the ball off...right into his, um, groin region.
O'Reilly threw his helmet down in the aftermath before crashing to the ground in agony. It was obviously a very painful moment, as Jace Frederick of the Pioneer Press reported O'Reilly was not wearing a cup at the time, and he was not able to control his actions.
"I was pretty out of it," O'Reilly said, per Frederick. "I don't remember much. I remember throwing my helmet. I remember that I was not very happy, and that I was not coming out of the game."
As for the remainder of the plate appearance, O'Reilly was eventually able to compose himself, dab it off and stay in the game. He wound up popping out in the most painful at-bat of his career.
