Wayne Rooney Talks Manchester United, Everton After Testimonial Reveal
England captain Wayne Rooney has revealed that Manchester United and Everton will be the only Premier League clubs he will ever play for.
The 30-year-old is set to play next season under his fourth permanent manager at Old Trafford—following Jose Mourinho's appointment as Louis van Gaal's successor—in 12 years since he made his high-profile switch from boyhood club Everton.
Rooney is preparing for Euro 2016 in France but will then celebrate his testimonial with a match between United and Everton at Old Trafford on August 3, and he said he has much to thank the two clubs for, per ESPN FC:

"Manchester United and Everton are the only clubs I have played for as a professional footballer. I am happy to say now that, whatever may happen in the future, I will never play for another Premier League club.
I owe United and Everton everything for giving me my footballing opportunities. Everton and United, along with my family, gave me the support and opportunity to help me achieve my goals and dreams.
"
Throughout his time at United there have been suspicions that Rooney may look to move elsewhere in the Premier League.
He was heavily linked with a switch to Manchester City in 2010, and then Chelsea in 2013, but neither move materialised, and clearly Rooney now has no ambitions to go to another English club, per Jason Burt in the Telegraph.
| Player | Appearances | Goals |
| Sir Bobby Charlton | 758 | 249 |
| Wayne Rooney | 519 | 245 |
| Denis Law | 404 | 237 |
| Jack Rowley | 424 | 211 |
| Dennis Viollet | 293 | 179 |
| George Best | 470 | 179 |
| Ryan Giggs | 963 | 168 |
| Joe Spence | 510 | 168 |
| Mark Hughes | 467 | 163 |
| Paul Scholes | 718 | 155 |
Already England's all-time leading goalscorer, Rooney needs just five more goals next season to eclipse Sir Bobby Charlton's Manchester United mark, which stands at 249.
It is a total many expected him to pass during the 2015-16 term but, by Rooney's high standards, he was poor in the last campaign under Van Gaal, netting 15 goals in 41 appearances, per ESPN FC.
The appointment of Mourinho could prove a boon for Rooney, as the Portuguese is clearly a great admirer of the Merseysider, per Bleacher Report UK:
United are sure to be an improved outfit next season after two dire terms under Van Gaal, which should, in turn, allow for Rooney to be more prolific in front of goal.
While still only 30, Rooney is in the twilight of his career, having played regular Premier League football since the age of 16.
It may well be that a move to China or America's Major League Soccer is on the horizon in a few years.
Bleacher Report's Dean Jones previously reported that he turned down a major offer from the Chinese Super League earlier this year, as he wanted to see out the rest of his contract—which runs to 2019—at United:
Rooney clearly has no designs on moving to another English club, though, and having received Mourinho's backing, he is likely to be key at United for a few years yet.
