Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford Rumours
Manchester United are reportedly favourites to re-sign former starlet Paul Pogba after incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola ruled out a move for the Juventus general. Meanwhile, it's been revealed Marcus Rashford's 2016 breakthrough may not have come to fruition.
The Independent's Mark Ogden reported on Wednesday that Pogba is a "priority signing" for new United manager Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese looks to build a squad at Old Trafford capable of challenging for Europe's top titles.

According to Ogden, Juve value their former Red Devil at €100 million (£78.5 million), which is a steep setback for United considering it was only four years ago he left Old Trafford for free.
However, ex-manager Sir Alex Ferguson was thought to be a major factor behind that departure, per Ogden, and with Mourinho now at the helm, Pogba may be tempted to return to his former abode.
Big-spending City are regularly considered major transfer competition for United owing to their ample funds, but Guardiola's withdrawal from the race for Pogba appears a welcome boost for Mourinho.
That being said, the Mirror's David Anderson has outlined that Pogba favours a move to one of Spain's higher powers, having already experienced English culture:
What's more, Pogba may struggle to come to terms with a lack of UEFA Champions League football at Old Trafford, even if only for just a single season.
The 23-year-old demands great things of himself and is expected to dazzle for Euro 2016 hosts France this summer. He told ESPN FC's Simon Kuper of the world-class standards for which he's aiming and touched upon how he wants to be remembered:
"That's my strength. I want to work, to be a great, to win everything.
[...]
By watching YouTube, like they do with Maradona and Pele. When I say I want to become a legend, some people say it's pretentious. For me, it's a challenge. My desire, a dream. I'm not saying I'll get there, but it's what I want.
"
With that being the case, it seems unlikely United would be able to tempt their former academy player back to the club as long as they're not playing a part in Europe's premier contest.
The midfielder has evolved greatly since leaving Manchester in the summer of 2012, and Breathe Sport recently posted footage of the player strutting his skills in France training:

Meanwhile, Crewe Alexandra assistant coach James Collins informed BBC Radio Stoke that his side made a move to sign Rashford last January before his first-team breakthrough (h/t BBC Sport): "I spoke to (United Under-21 coach) Warren Joyce last season about taking him. They said he was needed in their 21s, and a week later he makes his first-team debut, and the rest is history."
Five months down the line, the 18-year-old has netted eight goals in his first 18 senior games for United and is with the England squad looking to leave his mark at Euro 2016. Had a move to Crewe gone through, the youngster could have missed out on it all.
