Hurns Struggling to Continue Breakout Season
Hurns, 24, had a breakout season in 2015, catching 64 passes for 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns. He showed increasing chemistry with Blake Bortles and formed a nasty one-two punch with Allen Robinson (80 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2015).
That duo, along with tight end Julius Thomas, appeared to give the Jags a dynamic passing game full of young talent, though Bortles and Jacksonville's offense have largely struggled in 2016.
Hurns hasn't been as productive this season, notching 31 catches for 443 yards and two touchdowns before the injury.
Nonetheless, Hurns' injury takes away a dangerous deep threat and a player who was given an 84.9 overall player grade from Pro Football Focus last season, according to Matt Claassen. That "ranked 18th among wide receivers last season and wasn't far behind Robinson's 12th-ranked 87.6 grade."
He also dropped just three passes in 2015, per Claassen, which is an impressive number.
Despite his slow 2016, Hurns has established himself as a crucial weapon, so any absence from the wide receiver will be a blow to Jacksonville's offense.
