WWE Superstar Rankings Ahead of June 6 Raw
WWE's annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view will be here before we know it, and with the way things are shaping up, we can expect a great show on June 19.
Six of WWE's most talented competitors will attempt to climb a ladder and pull down a briefcase containing a guaranteed shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
We will also see Seth Rollins challenge Roman Reigns for the title and John Cena and AJ Styles face off for the first time in their careers.
Based on recent storylines, a few other possible matches seem obvious, but we won't know for sure what else will occupy the card until things are made official.
Let's take a look and see where everyone stands on this week's Superstar Power Rankings.
10. John Cena
1 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
John Cena's long-awaited return on the May 30 edition of Raw saw the 15-time champion deliver a passionate promo about how the future is going to have to go through him to get to the top.
Then AJ Styles came out to welcome him back, which is where things went downhill for the leader of the Cenation.
After pretending to respect Cena, Styles and his friends, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, proceeded to mercilessly beat him into the mat.
This set in motion a dream match at Money in the Bank between Styles and Cena. Up until the end of 2015, many thought we would never see these two lock horns, but now it's a reality.
Cena's return was hyped for weeks, so seeing him destroyed was a bit of a shock. This was his only appearance during the week, so his return didn't exactly get off to a great start.
9. Roman Reigns
2 of 10Previous Rank: No. 2
Like Cena, Roman Reigns had a single segment last week, which saw him deliver a promo about still being "the guy" in WWE. That's it.
He didn't wrestle on Raw, and he didn't even make an appearance on SmackDown, so he fell quite a bit in the Power Rankings.
Reigns' role has been kept to a minimum in recent weeks, and it might be WWE's way of trying to make us miss him. Judging by the way the WWE Universe reacts to him, it's not working.
His title reign has been underwhelming, to say the least. He has had a few good matches as champion, but his time at the top of the mountain may be coming to an end soon.
He is set to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank, and if The Architect doesn't defeat him, whoever wins the coveted briefcase just might.
8. Seth Rollins
3 of 10Previous Rank: No. 1
Another person who only appeared in one segment during the entire week was Rollins, and it was during the same one mentioned in the previous slide.
The reason Rollins ranks higher than Reigns is because he is so much more entertaining when he gets a mic in his hand.
Rollins has mastered the art of making the crowd react however he wants them to, and he uses this ability to draw nuclear-level heat whenever he speaks.
It would be a little surprising to see him regain the title so soon after returning from an injury, but if WWE wants to give him a monster push, giving him the belt would be the best way to do it.
7. Dolph Ziggler
4 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
Dolph Ziggler may have lost more times than he has won during his feud with Baron Corbin, but The Show Off got the upper hand on Monday after getting a little payback against The Lone Wolf in the form of a low blow.
Babyfaces aren't suppose to take the easy way out, but showing a little aggression is exactly what Ziggler needed to do in order to make this feud more interesting.
Corbin will likely come out on top when this storyline wraps up, but it's great to see Ziggler take the initiative instead of waiting for Corbin to take the low road first.
6. Charlotte
5 of 10Previous Rank: No. 3
Ever since she parted ways with her dear old daddy ahead of Extreme Rules, Charlotte has been more confident in her promos and more focused during her matches.
Having a legend like Ric Flair in your corner will always help, but she needed to step out of his shadow to form her own legacy and prove she is worthy of being the women's champion.
Charlotte was on commentary for a match between Dana Brooke and Natalya on Raw, but it was her match against Becky Lynch on SmackDown in which she really shone.
Being the daughter of a Hall of Famer comes with a lot of pressure, and so far, Charlotte has handled it like a pro. Even if she loses the title in the near future, she will still be the top heel in the women's division because she is so good at making the crowd hate her.
5. Rusev
6 of 10Previous Rank: No. 7
Ever since he defeated Kalisto to win the United States Championship at Extreme Rules, Rusev has been nearly unstoppable.
The Bulgarian Brute has gotten himself in better shape over the past few months, and he continues to perform moves usually reserved for guys half his size.
He picked up decisive victories over Zack Ryder on Raw and Jack Swagger on SmackDown, both of whom are former U.S. champions.
When The League of Nations broke up in April, it was logical to assume Sheamus or Alberto Del Rio would be given the first push out of the three members, so it was a pleasant surprise to see Rusev go back to being the unstoppable force he was when he was first called up to the main roster in 2014.
He doesn't have an official challenger for his title at Money in the Bank yet, but Titus O'Neil has been a thorn in his side recently, so odds are we will see the two powerhouses fight for the belt on June 19.
4. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady
7 of 10Previous Rank: No. 4
Every single time Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady step through the ring ropes, you know they are going to deliver an entertaining performance.
Whether it's a simple promo or a tag team match, The Realest Guys in the Room always deliver, and their feud against The Dudley Boyz is going to help establish them as one of the top teams in the company.
They picked up a win over Bubba Ray and D-Von on Raw, but the teams are nowhere near being done with each other.
There is a good chance they will have a rematch at Money in the Bank, possibly with some kind of stipulation to increase the level of excitement.
3. Money in the Bank Participants
8 of 10Previous Rank: No. 6
Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Alberto Del Rio and Cesaro are the six men who will compete in the Money in the Bank match to determine who earns a title shot at the time and place of their choosing.
Raw featured all of them in a six-man tag match, and SmackDown saw Zayn, Ambrose, Owens and Del Rio engage in a standard tag bout. In both instances, the babyfaces got the win.
Ever since they qualified for the big ladder match, we have seen several contests featuring different combinations of these six men, and they have all been great.
Having this much talent in one place is going to make for a fun performance, and the great thing is any one of them could reasonably walk out of Money in the Bank with the briefcase.
2. The New Day
9 of 10Previous Rank: No. 9
Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E have been one of the best acts going in WWE for the past year, and they have been rewarded for their hard work by being featured prominently on both Raw and SmackDown on a regular basis.
They opened Raw in a segment with Shane and Stephanie McMahon, and they also opened SmackDown alongside The Club.
Their Raw match against The Vaudevillains saw Anderson and Gallows attack them from behind, kicking off what is sure to be a great feud for the tag titles.
However, it was Kingston's match against Styles on SmackDown that turned the most heads. The tag team division has a lot of talent, and with any luck, The New Day will be part of it for a long time.
1. The Club
10 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
WWE always tries to get new stars over, but it feels like more effort is being put into making sure Styles, Anderson and Gallows are successful.
Not only did Anderson and Gallows begin a feud with The New Day on Raw, but Styles targeted John Cena, setting up what is sure to be an outstanding match at Money in the Bank.
Perhaps WWE isn't lying when it says this is a new era for the company. The roster looks a lot different than it did a few years ago, and if Superstars such as The Club are being placed at the forefront, the future looks bright.
