NCAA Softball World Series 2016: Sunday Results, Highlights and Twitter Reaction
The Sunday slate of the 2016 NCAA Softball World Series features four possible elimination games as the field of remaining schools continues to dwindle.
The first two games of the day are win-or-go-home battles, with the victor of each contest moving on to the bracket final.
Auburn and Oklahoma are both 2-0, so they will have two games to win one in this double elimination-style tournament.
Here is a look at Sunday's schedule and results, as well as a rundown of each game.
| Matchup | Time (ET) | Result |
| Florida State vs. Michigan | 1 p.m. | 1-0 Florida State |
| Georgia vs. LSU | 3:30 p.m. | 4-1 LSU |
| Auburn vs. Florida State | 7 p.m. | 8-7 Auburn (F/8) |
| LSU vs. Oklahoma | 9:30 p.m. | 7-3 Oklahoma |
Florida State vs. Michigan
In an extremely tight pitching battle, Florida State was able to squeak by Michigan.
Michigan entered the tournament as the top remaining seed, as the Wolverines were the second-ranked team in the nation. The team was also last season's national runner-up, so it was a favorite to win the championship this season.
Florida State was shut down offensively all day, but it made the most of its chances Sunday.
Alex Kossoff singled in the third inning for the Seminoles' only hit of the afternoon. A walk and two wild pitches later, Florida State scored the game's only run.
Florida State starter Jessica Burroughs led her team to a win behind a phenomenal complete-game performance. She allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out six Wolverines.
She was able to hold off Michigan's high-powered offense, which ranked third nationally in team batting average and second in scoring. NCAA Softball provided a look at the game's final out:
Meanwhile, Megan Betsa was excellent on the mound for Michigan. She threw six innings while giving up only one run on one hit and four walks. She started every game for the Wolverines in this tournament, and MLive.com's Brendan Quinn made note of her heavy workload:
Florida State will now need to beat Auburn twice to keep its season alive. The Tigers have the nation's top-ranked scoring offense, so the Seminoles will need another sensational pitching game Sunday night.
Georgia vs. LSU
After a heartbreaking loss Saturday that saw it squander a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning to Auburn, Georgia was unable to recover and save it's season Sunday.
LSU, perhaps taking advantage of early sluggishness from the Bulldog's previous loss, used a two-run first inning to send it to a matchup with Oklahoma.
Bailey Landry reached first base after an error, and Bianka Bell made Georgia pay for it. She blasted a two-run shot into the centerfield seats to give the Bayou Bengals a lead they would not surrender.

Georgia was able to split the lead in the fourth with an RBI ground-out from Maeve McGuire, but the Bulldogs could not create much more offense for the rest of the afternoon.
Carley Hoover was largely responsible for that. She pitched a gem to the tune of one run and three hits allowed in seven innings.
Bell was not done at the plate, as she hit another jack in the fifth to provide LSU with an insurance run. She also made school history, per the SEC Network:
The Tigers added another run in the sixth off of Chelsea Wilkerson, who finished with three earned runs and six hits given up for Georgia.
The school also received some props from star running back Leonard Fournette for its play:
LSU will need to knock off a tough Oklahoma team to remain alive in this tournament. The Sooners are complete team, as they have scored 10 runs in two games while featuring a bonafide ace in Paige Parker.
Auburn vs. Florida State
Auburn's top-ranked offense continues to carry it, as the Tigers put together a pair of three-run innings to win a thriller and advance to the Softball World Series Final.
Florida State did not get the quality pitching it received earlier in the day, as starter Meghan King only lasted only two innings. She was yanked after allowing five runs, four hits and three walks before returning to finish the contest.
The Seminoles scored first, but Auburn jetted out to an early lead after scoring three times in the first inning. The team singled twice before Carlee Wallace drilled a three-run homer.
Florida State battled back to score two more in the second inning. Thanks to some sloppy fielding, Morgan Klaevemann drove in a run with a triple before scoring on a single from Jessica Warren. The team added another run in third inning to reclaim the lead, but is was short-lived.
Jade Rhodes blasted a three-run shot in the bottom half of the third to put Auburn back in front for good. NCAA Softball provided a look at her swing:
Kasey Cooper then added some insurance with a home run in the fourth give Auburn seven runs. She also broke a school record, per Auburn Softball:
Burroughs led Florida State to a win over Michigan earlier in the day, but she was not as sharp in relief against Auburn. She allowed two runs in three innings.
The Seminoles put two on with one out in the sixth, but Klaevemann was robbed on this sensational grab from Victoria Draper:
Florida State would not go away, as it rallied to tie the game once more in the top of the seventh thanks to a three-run homer from Cali Harrod. ESPNU showed the clutch shot:
In extra innings, Auburn took advantage of an error to get a runner to third before scoring on a fielder's choice to win it in the eighth. NCAA Softball gave a look at the crucial play at home:
Auburn has allowed an average of over four runs a game in this tournament, so it must improve its pitching. As long as their bats stay hot, the Tigers are always a threat to win.
Oklahoma vs. LSU
Shay Knighten hit a solo home run and Oklahoma pitcher Paige Parker threw a complete game as the Sooners defeated LSU by a final score of 7-3.
After taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the third, Oklahoma gave up three runs in the bottom half thanks to a three-run home run by Sahvanna Jaquish to tie the game.
Oklahoma responded in the top half of the fourth with a heavy-Sooners crowd in full support. The Sooners scored three runs in the frame to take a 6-3 lead.
Knighten padded the lead with her solo shot in the top of the sixth, per NCAA Softball:
The Oklahoma fans were definitely vocal in their support, via NCAA Softball:
The Sooners recorded 10 hits and LSU had eight, but the Tigers committed four errors in the loss.
Oklahoma looked strong once it broke the tie, and look like the favorites heading into the championship series. The Sooners' combination of pitching and hitting look to be the most dangerous components left in this tournament.
