Bray Wyatt and Best Options for Final Spot in WWE Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Drama and intrigue aplenty await the six men who are stepping into the unknown at WWE Money in the Bank 2016.
Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens all head into the show's marquee ladder match knowing they have a reasonable chance of success and claiming the briefcase that will go a long way toward making one of them a future world champion.
But there is a curveball still to come. WWE has yet to confirm the seventh and final participant to enter the match, and it is fascinating to see which way it will turn.
Will it be an inexperienced wrestler such as a graduate from NXT, or will it be a senior star who gets the shot at glory?
Here's a look at the leading contenders.
Kalisto
1 of 4With his disappointing reign holding the United States Championship now over, this match could be a great way for Kalisto to get his solo career up and running again.
It's an environment he could thrive in. He is the acrobatic, talented star who would bring plenty of energy to the match, if it needs any more as it is.
He would be at home in a contest that has plenty of drama and exciting spots, and it could be the making of him once again as a solo star.
He's flattered to deceive since he began to break away from Sin Cara. Putting him in this match, although he certainly wouldn't win it, would make it far more entertaining.
Bray Wyatt
2 of 4
There is a fair argument to suggest that if any of WWE's longer-serving talent deserves a shot at becoming world champion, it's Bray Wyatt.
He's been absent because of injury but is on the comeback trail, and perhaps WWE is holding off on naming the final participant for the match until it's absolutely sure Wyatt is fit and raring to go.
He should make his return to the company in the coming weeks or even days. That will be explosive in itself, and if WWE throws him into the cauldron of the Money in the Bank match, then expect fireworks.
Wyatt's legions of fans will also expect and demand he walk away with the briefcase. And if WWE selects him to be involved, he immediately becomes one of the favorites.
Randy Orton
3 of 4
This is dependent on Orton being cleared to wrestle in time for Money in the Bank, but if he is, he'd be a fantastic addition to the bout.
First of all, he brings star power and experience to the party. Orton needs a really explosive background and surrounding to bring him back to WWE TV, and the chaos of this match would be the perfect backdrop for him.
He's got a dramatic spot in him too, as we've seen in the past. What better way to dust the RKO off than by having him hit someone with it as they're sailing off the top of a ladder?
With the star power in the match too, it could be the breeding ground for Orton's first big rivalry heading out of Money in the Bank should he find himself unsuccessful when it comes to winning.
Finn Balor
4 of 4
With NXT's TakeOver: The End show well out of the way by the time Money in the Bank comes around, could the timing fit perfectly for Finn Balor's debut on the main roster in this match?
Perhaps that is why WWE is holding off on naming the participant until now. Perhaps Balor will be a surprise entrant on the night, with WWE holding off right until the final moments before giving the Irishman his shot at glory.
He probably wouldn't be considered one of the leading candidates when it comes to winning the match if he's involved, however. There are others who have served a much longer apprenticeship on the main roster than Balor and are arguably more deserving of the opportunity.
If WWE inserts Balor into the match, it would guarantee some real drama and excitement. Balor is a huge talent, and his presence in the match could go a long way toward making it the best yet.
