NCAA Softball Championships 2016: Dates, TV Schedule, Times, Bracket and More
Only eight teams remain in the Women's College World Series field, and none of these squads are No. 1 seeds. Thank the Georgia Bulldogs for that.
A No. 16 seed has just as realistic a chance of being a national champion this year as the No. 2 seed Michigan Wolverines. With the Florida Gators gone thanks to the aforementioned Bulldogs, Michigan has vaulted into the overwhelming favorite role in this tournament.
Play begins on June 2 and will culminate with the national championship round beginning on June 6. Here's a look at the matchups.

Georgia's Remarkable Run
Cue the talk of SEC dominance in the world of softball. There are three SEC teams playing for a chance to become national champions. There's also a chance that there could be an all-SEC national championship series.
That will be contingent on Georgia's performance in the top half of the bracket. The Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers will have their hands full against the Oklahoma Sooners and Michigan, respectively.
The Bulldogs are on a miraculous run. Their win over Florida on May 26 marked the first time a No. 1 seed lost a game in super regional play, per Georgia Athletics.
Georgia will have a chance to complete the Florida sweep with a win over the Florida State Seminoles on Thursday. To do that, the Bulldogs could use a bounce-back performance from senior Tina Iosefa, who went 0-for-3 in Georgia's 3-2 win over Florida on May 27 to put them in the last eight. Iosefa is the team's leader with 23 home runs while batting .364.
One look at this graphic, courtesy of NCAA Softball, shows how vital Iosefa is to Georgia's production:
Scoring three runs a game won't get it done if Georgia wants to win, no matter how dominant starting pitcher Chelsea Wilkinson has been. She pitched a shutout in Game 1 against Florida and followed that with allowing only two runs in seven innings in Game 2.
Kayla Braud of the SEC Network couldn't believe the performance Wilkinson put on against the former national champions:
Don't let that No. 16 next to Georgia's name fool you. The Bulldogs have proven they can win with the bat or on the mound. Iosefa is key to Georgia's run, but she'll help for as long as Wilkinson can stay at this level.
