Oregon pulled off the only upset of the quarterfinal round, sending LSU packing 3-1-1. It's undoubtedly a disappointing finish for the Tigers after last year's title win.
LSU freshman Sam Burns isn't letting the loss take away from an otherwise strong 2016 campaign:
Similarly, Todd Politz, LSU's director of digital media, is already looking ahead to next year:
Zach Foushee got the Ducks off to a strong start by snatching a victory away from Brandon Pierce on the final two holes. Pierce led for 14 of the 18 holes, but his late collapse cost him. Over the final five holes, he let his 2-up advantage evaporate as Foushee chipped in for an eagle on No. 8 to take his first lead of the round.
The Oregonian's Mike Tokito noted why the shot was so deflating for Pierce:
The Ducks contingent couldn't contain its excitement in the moment, per Golfweek's Brentley Romine:
The remaining four matches couldn't quite match the drama. LSU's chances of survival rested with Eric Ricard in the final match of the pairing. Aaron Wise had the round wrapped up with two holes to spare, though, ensuring an Oregon win.
Golf Channel shared a replay of Wise's semifinal-clinching putt:
Texas looked by far the most dominant team on the course in the quarterfinals. The Longhorns won their first four matches against Oklahoma before Luke Kwon got the Sooners on the board.
Beau Hossler had a tough challenge from Blaine Hale in the opening match. He led for the entire back nine, but only one hole separated the two for the majority of the final nine holes. Hossler held Hale off, and fellow Longhorns Doug Ghim, Taylor Funk and Gavin Hall proceeded to sweep aside their opponents with relative ease.
Ghim and Funk were particularly impressive since they were paired with Oklahoma's two best golfers, Max McGreevy and Grant Hirschman. According to Oklahoma's athletic site, McGreevy's average score of 72.17 was lowest on the Sooners, and Hirschman was right behind him with an average score of 72.94.
Ghim beat McGreevy with six holes to spare, while Funk eliminated the need for the final four holes with his 6-and-4 victory over Hirschman.
Texas has arguably the strongest team in the country, and the Longhorns were firing on all cylinders in the quarterfinals. Even with Oregon boasting the home-course advantage, the four-time reigning Big 12 champions are the team to beat in Eugene.
The Longhorns will be paired with USC in the semifinals, with the Trojans coming off a 4-1-0 victory over Vanderbilt.
The road won't get any easier for Oregon. After dethroning the defending champs, the Ducks have a date with the second-seeded Illinois Fighting Illini.

Oregon's run through the tournament continues as the Ducks reached the final with a 3-2-0 win over Illinois. Foushee, Edwin Yi, and Sulman Raza each earned a head-to-head win to propel the home team into the final.
Raza delivered the decisive victory, halving his final hole against Charlie Danielson to finish 1 up. Oregon Men's Golf shared a replay of his winning putt:
The Ducks' other two wins weren't quite as dramatic, with Yi and Foushee wrapping up their results with holes to spare. Dylan Meyer toppled the new individual national champion, Wise, but it didn't matter as the Fighting Illini were already eliminated by that point.
Oregon has more than proven its quality in Eugene, but the Ducks will still likely be the underdogs against Texas, which beat USC 4-1-0. Hossler, Ghim and Hall were all victorious again, with Scottie Scheffler joining in on the fun this time around.
Rico Hoey offered the Trojans a lifeline with his 6-and-5 win over Funk, but Ghim and Hall dispatched their opponents with ruthless efficiency. Ghim took the lead on the fourth hole and didn't look back, while Hall jumped out to a 1-up advantage on the second hole and never relinquished his lead.
