The Oregon program turned in a successful day. Wise was able to win on his home course, while his Ducks secured a spot in the match-play portion of the competition.
A key to Wise's victory was his ability to respond to adversity. He followed a bogey with a birdie on three occasions. GoDucks.com's Rob Moseley described one such instance:
Golf Channel provided a look at the crucial putt:
The sophomore still has more golf to play and a chance to add the team championship to his individual accomplishment.
The team scores greatly fluctuated Monday, particularly in the top eight.
After holding steady atop the leaderboard for the last two days, Vanderbilt dropped a bit after shooting a 12-over for the round. Such a poor score would seemingly put a team in jeopardy of missing the cut, but the Commodores had built up enough of a cushion to remain comfortably in the top eight.
Along with Vanderbilt, LSU, Texas and USC shot well over par. On the contrary, Illinois, Oklahoma and South Carolina shot under par, which was a big difference from Sunday, when only Texas finished under par.
Arkansas was the biggest disappointment. The Razorbacks led after the first round and were consistently near the top of the leaderboard throughout the weekend. However, it all came crashing down Monday as the team shot an abysmal 18-over to miss the cut.
The team still applauded its senior class following the round:
Match play presents a different dynamic than stroke play, as each hole holds more significance. Scores have wildly varied from day to day, so the tournament is up for grabs. Oregon, Texas, Vanderbilt and USC have appeared to be the most consistent, so the champion could come from that quartet.

ESPN.com's Jason Sobel also noted that playing on his home course was an advantage:
According to Global Golf Post's Cassie Stein, the team final will be Wise's last foray with the Ducks:
Wise could add even more accolades if Oregon can win the match play round and become team champions. Having a player like Wise already gives it an edge.
