Manchester United-Wolfsburg: Champions League Recap
In their first 2009-2010 Champions League home match at Old Trafford Wednesday, last year's English Premier League Champion and Champions League runner-up Manchester United faced off against German Bundesliga Champion VfL Wolfsburg, who was playing its first ever away Champions League match in one of the biggest Matchday 2 matchups of the Champions League.
Manchester United went to Turkey and beat Besiktas 1-0 in their first Champions League match.
Wolfsburg beat CSKA Moscow 3-1 at home in their first ever Champions League match.

Both sides started off slowly. Around the 10-minute mark, the teams exchanged chances but failed to hit the target.
In the 12th minute, Manchester United substitute Dimitar Berbatov started to warm up for the Red Devils and, just eight minutes later, replaced Michael Owen.
Owen is believed to have suffered a groin injury.
England manager Fabio Capello was in attendance and, just one the day prior to the match, Owen talked about being able to join the English squad for next year's World Cup in South Africa.
However, Owen's chances of joining England for the World Cup are now slim to none due to the injury and failure to perform in front of Capello.
After being put into the match, Berbatov immediately created a great chance for United to grab the lead, but they weren't able to capitalize.
As halftime approached, United controlled the game but were unable to get anything past hard-working Wolfsburg keeper Diego Benaglio.
After the break, United once again went on the attack but, in the 56th minute, the match changed dramatically.
Wolfsburg's Erin Dzeko was able to head in a pass from Makoto Hasebe past United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak to give the visitors a surprising 1-0 lead.
After the goal, United went back onto the attack and just two minutes later was able to win a free kick from a tackle by Josue on Anderson, giving United a free kick just outside the penalty area.
On the ensuing kick, Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs kicked the ball off of a Wolfsburg defender and into the back of the net, tying the match 1-1 and giving Giggs his 150th career goal with Manchester United.
Just after Giggs' milestone goal, it appeared Wayne Rooney would give United the lead, but his shot went just over the crossbar.
United continued to pound the Wolfsburg goal. On the attack in the 78th minute, Berbatov passed off to Giggs, who left the ball for Michael Carrick.
Carrick was able to put the ball in the net and give Manchester United a 2-1 lead.
After the goal, Wolfsburg got several more opportunities on Kuszczak, but weren't able to convert.
After two minutes of stoppage time, Manchester United was able to keep alive their four-year Champions League win-streak at Old Trafford by beating VfL Wolfsburg 2-1.
With the win, Manchester United took first place in Group B with six points.
They will travel to the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow to take on CSKA Moscow on Oct. 21.
Wolfsburg will head back to the Volkswagen Arena to take on Besiktas.
The two teams will meet again on Matchday 6 of the Champions League at the Volkswagen Arena.
