WWE Superstar Rankings Ahead of May 30 Raw

The Doctor Chris MuellerMay 30, 2016

In the week following Extreme Rules, WWE wasted no time beginning to build the Money in the Bank card. We already have most of the participants for the titular ladder match and a solid main event.

Seth Rollins' return from injury was a major focal point of both Raw and SmackDown, while qualifying bouts for the Money in the Bank match made up most of the Raw lineup.

However, the person who may have made the biggest leap forward in their career was Charlotte. The way she disowned her father has made her an even bigger heel than she already was.

Now that we know SmackDown and Raw will have separate rosters and storylines, we may have to start doing separate power rankings for each show, but until then, let's take a look at where everyone fell on this week's top 10.

10. Cody Rhodes

1 of 10

If you're asking yourself why someone who asked to be released made the list, you have answered your own question.

It's because Cody Rhodes had the integrity to leave a place he no longer felt was helping his career that he deserves a spot on this week's power rankings.

A lot of Superstars in his position would just coast by and collect a paycheck, but Rhodes is not satisfied sitting on the sidelines and having his ideas for storylines ignored.

He took several different gimmicks and made them work, and there is no logical reason why he was never a world champion in WWE.

Whatever promotion Rhodes ends up working for will benefit from his knowledge and experience, and it will be WWE's great loss.

9. The New Day

2 of 10

WWE celebrated episode 1,200 on Raw with a segment involving The New Day and The Social Outcasts, and it ended with Heath Slater covered in cake.

After their victory over The Vaudevillains, Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E extended their already long reigns as tag champs.

They are one of the few acts in WWE to be booked consistently, and their longevity as champions is a result of their hard work making the team fun to watch.

The tag team division is filled to capacity right now, so it's just a matter of time before someone dethrones them and takes the titles, but until then, we can continue to enjoy their goofy antics on a weekly basis.

8. Natalya

3 of 10

Despite losing to Charlotte at Extreme Rules, Natalya remains the top contender to the Women's Championship. It was made clear she would get another shot at the title during her match with Dana Brooke on SmackDown.

Nattie is the perfect opponent to help establish Charlotte as the top heel in the division because she has so much experience and they share so many similarities.

Both women were born into wrestling families, and they have both worked hard to hone their craft and be known as so much more than the daughters of legends.

Natalya has worked through some terrible storylines with total professionalism, and with any luck, she will be rewarded for all her hard work with another reign as champion in the near future.

7. Rusev

4 of 10

Rusev is finally back to being the physically dominant monster he was when he first debuted, and he kept his momentum going with a successful United States Championship defense against Kalisto on SmackDown.

The Bulgarian Brute has so many great qualities, but WWE booked him to look weak for so long that it seemed like the company had lost all faith in him.

The next couple of months will be vital to his success. WWE has given him another chance to dominate the midcard scene as one of its champions, and you can tell he is not taking it lightly.

We don't know if he will end up on Raw or SmackDown after the draft in July, but we do know he will be a force to be reckoned with wherever he goes.

6. Money in the Bank Participants

5 of 10

There's no good way to rank the six men who qualified for the Money in the Bank match separately since they are in exactly the same position, so it made sense to lump Dean Ambrose, Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn together.

There's only one spot left if we are to believe WWE's advertising, but there is always a chance more than seven Superstars will participate in the match.

With Cena returning this week, it's quite possible he will fill the last remaining spot, but WWE might have different plans for him.

5. The Miz

6 of 10

The Miz followed up his big win at Extreme Rules with another successful Intercontinental Championship defense against Cesaro less than a week later on SmackDown.

There is a lot of talk about the new era and the younger generation taking over the roster, so seeing a deserving veteran such as The Miz being booked so strong gives hope WWE won't completely abandon its more established stars for newer talents.

The Miz has been producing some of his best work to date as IC champion, and he feels like a new man ever since Maryse started accompanying him for his matches.

He wasn't able to qualify for the Money in the Bank match, so he will probably end up defending his title at the PPV. We just don't know who will be challenging him yet. Hopefully we find out sooner than later.

4. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady

7 of 10

Fans gave Enzo Amore a warm welcome back to WWE following a scary concussion at Payback, and Colin Cassady continued to impress with a win over Bubba Ray Dudley.

Enzo and Cass are giving New Day a run for its money as the most entertaining tag team in WWE, and Amore is a big reason why.

Big Cass has proved his worth in recent weeks by exceeding expectations as a solo act, but Amore is on a different level when it comes to delivering promos.

He is able to fire off insults in rapid succession without anything feeling rehearsed, and everything he says makes the WWE Universe like him even more.

There is little doubt they will be tag team champions at some point in 2016. They just need to earn a shot at the titles, and they'll be set.

3. Charlotte

8 of 10

We have seen a lot of people turn on each other over the years, but few moments carried as much weight as the segment with Charlotte and her father during Raw.

Seeing a daughter say such horrible things to her father had to pull on some heart strings, but the reason it was so effective is because a lot of what she said is true.

Watching Flair cry as his own flesh and blood disowned him felt so much more personal than most promos we see, and the way Charlotte held it together and kept a mean expression on her face while her dad was balling his eyes out was impressive.

2. Roman Reigns

9 of 10

It turns out Roman Reigns is best in small doses. He only played a small part on Raw by helping set up the Money in the Bank main event. And that's it.

He didn't wrestle any matches over the past week. Instead, he took a backseat so the return of Seth Rollins could be WWE's main focus.

Reigns is one of the most hated babyfaces in WWE history, but he is starting to win over some fans after consistently producing great matches as champion.

It looks like we will have to wait quite a bit longer to see a Shield reunion, but for now, it's going to be fun watching Rollins and Reigns try to tear each other apart again.

1. Seth Rollins

10 of 10

The WWE Universe gave Seth Rollins a hero's welcome when he made his triumphant return to Raw, and just like any good villain, he was able to make the crowd turn on him at the drop of a hat.

Everyone knew Rollins would be cheered when he attacked Reigns following his match at Extreme Rules against AJ Styles, so having him insult the crowd the following night was the only way to ensure he remained heel.

With The Authority no longer in control of the entire company, Rollins is forced to stand on his own two feet, and it will give him the opportunity to prove he doesn't need someone such as Triple H backing him.
