NASCAR at Charlotte 2016: Live Results and Analysis from the Coca-Cola 600
Martin Truex Jr. dominated the field, leading a record 392 of 400 laps, to capture the checkered flag in Sunday night's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway for his first win of the season after a couple of heartbreaking losses.
The Coke 600 is the longest and most grueling race of the Sprint Cup season, but the driver of the No. 78 Toyota made it look easy by turning in one of the most dominant performances in NASCAR history.
Truex's 392 laps led surpassed the previous track record of 335 set by Jim Paschal in 1967.
His 588 miles at the front also set a NASCAR record for an individual race.
Truex's dominance is sure to soothe the nerves of both the driver and his team after losing the Daytona 500 to Denny Hamlin in the closest finish in race history and then leading the most laps at both Texas and Kansas before bad luck cost them trips to Victory Lane.
Kevin Harvick finished second.
Jimmie Johnson, Hamlin and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top-five finishers.
NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series returns to action Sunday at the Tricky Triangle for the Axalta 'We Paint Winners' 400 at Pocono Raceway.
