Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Edinson Cavani, Eden Hazard Rumours
Chelsea will reportedly miss out on signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani this summer because the French club is already saying goodbye to talismanic attacker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swede's departure from the Ligue 1 giants is set to increase Cavani's importance in the French capital. The player's agent, Claudio Anellucci, recently made that clear during an interview with Radio Crc (h/t Vaishali Bhardwaj of the London Evening Standard):
"Could Cavani leave PSG? I don’t think there’s a chance.
After the departure of Ibrahimovic, the club wants to keep what they have, then strengthen to target the Champions League.
PSG can’t get rid of both strikers.

Bhardwaj also quoted PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi telling French radio station RMC how highly he rates Cavani: "Don't forget that we already have a great attacker at the club—Edinson Cavani."

Cavani's place and reputation weren't always so highly regarded in Paris. Not when playing in the same starting XI as Ibrahimovic often meant operating out wide, away from his preferred centre-forward position.
But Al-Khelaifi is not merely reassuring Cavani. He'll know how effective the prolific No. 9 can be.
Cavani is terrific in the air and can finish well with both feet. He's also quick enough to stretch a defence and even exhibits the technical acumen to create goals for others.
With a list of attributes like that, it's no wonder the former Napoli man has attracted interest from Stamford Bridge. The Blues' incoming manager, Antonio Conte, was credited with an "interest" in the Uruguayan goal-getter back in March, according to the Daily Mirror's Darren Lewis.
Conte's new-look squad will need a striker, with Diego Costa struggling for form and fitness for most of this season and few other options to count on. But developments in Paris mean Chelsea will have to cast a wider net.
Ibrahimovic is expected to come to England's Premier League this summer, with the 34-year-old reportedly favouring a move to Manchester United, according to Sky Sports News HQ:
So, any designs Conte had on Cavani will have to shift to another target.
Eden Hazard Tipped for Real Madrid
Ivan Campo believes there's no reason for Eden Hazard to resist joining Real Madrid if the 10-time European champions come calling this summer.
The former Los Blancos centre-back talked up Hazard's talent and fit with his old club to 888sport (h/t the London Evening Standard's Bhardwaj):
"Hazard is one of the best players in the world. Last season he was easily the best player in the Premier League but this year he hasn’t had much luck. However, he has so much quality, so why wouldn’t he sign for Madrid.
"

Hazard has been extensively linked with a move to the Spanish capital, but the tide appears to have turned recently. Earlier this month, Chelsea club insiders declared their certainty Hazard will stay in west London beyond this season, per Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail.
There's little doubt Hazard can be an asset to any club when he's fully focused. The 25-year-old has the pace, trickery, flair and eye for goal to tie any defence in knots.
At his best, Hazard can thrive as a winger or a natural No. 10 roaming the central areas of the final third with creative intent. Yet the ex-Lille ace was far from his best for much of this season, when he didn't net his first Premier League goal until late April.
Keeping Hazard and getting him back on form will be key to Conte's bid to instantly revive Chelsea next season. So will finding a marquee striker to consistently lead the line.
