Cristiano Ronaldo Comments on Jose Mourinho, Manchester United and More
Cristiano Ronaldo is hopeful Jose Mourinho can return his former club, Manchester United, to winning ways, as the Special One seemingly edges ever-closer to taking over at Old Trafford.
In an interview to be broadcast on Spanish TV programme Jugones de la Sexta (h/t Antony Kastrinakis of the Sun), he said:
"He’s already signed, hasn’t he? I think it’s good. If it’s something United wanted I think it’s good.
I hope Manchester United get back to being what they were because it’s an impressive club, but in the last years they lacked an identity a bit.
And it hurts me seeing United like that because it’s a club I carry in my heart. I wish Mourinho can restore them back to the top.

Indeed, that will be the task given to Mourinho—who, according to the Independent's Mark Ogden, will be confirmed as Louis van Gaal's successor on Thursday—after three largely disappointing years under David Moyes and the Dutchman, save for the latter's FA Cup win.
Sky Sports News HQ gave further updates on Mourinho's ongoing negotiations with the club:
The FA Cup is the only piece of silverware the club has earned since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, and United have failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League twice in the three seasons since his departure—something Mourinho will naturally be expected to improve upon.
ESPN's Alex Shaw isn't confident one way or another that the former Chelsea manager will bring success to Old Trafford:
Sports journalist Jonas Giaever believes the Portuguese is the right man to lead United forward, though:
Kastrinakis reported that Ronaldo and Mourinho had a serious falling-out during the Special One's stint as Real Madrid manager because of the Portuguese manager's tactics and treatment of Ronaldo's team-mates Pepe and Iker Casillas.
The Blancos superstar has evidently put those troubles behind him, though, and he added:
"Without any problems I would embrace him. One of my great qualities is to not hold grudges at anyone regardless of the damage they may have done to me.
I’m not saying he did, I’m saying in general. There were some problems like in life, like you have problems with your wife.
"

However, per Kastrinakis, it does not appear he will be reuniting with Mourinho in a sensational return to Old Trafford any time soon.
"Right now yes I am happy and I want to stay at this club," said Ronaldo. "I don’t see any other club that is better than Real Madrid, if you weigh things up, there is no better club. So all other clubs can forget about me because Real Madrid is the best."
The 31-year-old's future at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium has long been the subject of speculation, but it seems he's determined to stay put and continue fighting for trophies with Real.
Though he has won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League with Los Merengues, his trophy haul at the club has probably not been as extensive as he would've liked given Barcelona's dominance in recent years and the re-emergence of Atletico Madrid as a force.
He'll have the chance to add another Champions League winners' medal to his collection on Saturday, and it's evident he's not prepared to leave until he's brought yet more silverware to the Spanish capital.
